Will You Answer God?

2“Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
3Now [a]prepare yourself like a man or woman;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.

I wasn't but I know the One who was there. His name is Jesus.

5Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the [b]line upon it?

Not me but I know the One who did?

6To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Not me but I know the One who fastened the foundations of the earth and laid its cornerstone.

If you want to answer these questions, make sure you give evidence to back up your answers.

Oh, cool! You're addressing my favorite Old Testament story of all time! The one where God ruins the life of a faithful worshipper and murders dozens of people just to settle an argument with Satan.

What a stand-up guy he is, huh? Rewarding blind faith with torture?

It's obvoius that you've never read the rest of that account. Where's your answers to God's questions?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 I don't answer stuріԁ questions.

And yes, I have read the entire book of Job. Start to finish. It begins with Satan kicking it with his bestie God in the throne room, and starting an argument over whether Job would still worship him if he lost everything. It continues to describe how Job's friends, being the stand-up guys that they are, keep accusing him of having done something to displease God, because of course a good and loving God wouldn't destroy his life for no reason. (Wink wink.) Finally, Job tells them to fuсk off with their self righteous buӏӏsһіt, and demands answers to why God has decided to torture him. And God, being the wonderful, loving being that he is, doesn't explain anything, and instead comes down to earth to flex on him.

So here's your answers, that you think will provide some elucidation for you.

Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
@GodSpeed63
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Same place as you. Nowhere.

I don't answer stuріԁ questions.

In other words, you have no clue nor do you have any evidence for evolution.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 You're the one flying in the face of known evidence to assert the idea that everything was poofed into existence by a magic skydaddy. Where's your evidence?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63
evidence for evolution

Would you like some?

Not a problem...
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 First, I suppose, we need to define our terms.

Evolution is change in the frequency and distribution of specific alleles.

Agreed?

No?

Sort of..?

Which is it?
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2
Evolution is change in the frequency and distribution of specific alleles.

No. If the change in the frequency and distribution of specific alleles, it's because of the hand of God and not evolution.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 Still waiting for you to prove that this being you propose in every one of your posts exists.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 That's not what I asked you.

Let's try again...

Evolution is change in the frequency and distribution of specific alleles.

Agreed?

No?

Sort of..?

Which is it?

This time, try not to just run away to 'god did it'... that's not what I'm asking you.

Answer the question.

This time, try not to just run away to 'god did it'... that's not what I'm asking you.

Then don't tell me that evolution had a hand in it either.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63

Evolution is not an intelligent being. It is our name for the process by which species change over time. Your statement is exactly as stuріԁ as if you said, "Don't tell me continental drift had a hand in it."
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire
Evolution is not an intelligent being

You can say that again.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 And yet you still don't grasp the core concept of it. It's a process. Mutations occur over the span of thousands of generations, and some of them are beneficial. Others are not. It's legitimately that simple, yet you keep demonstrating that you have no comprehension of it.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 Despite your incoherent response (in lieu of an honest answer), I will address your original plea for evidence of Evolution.

Empty out your hard-drive, because there's going to be a lot 😀

Let's begin...

Humans and chimpanzees both carry inactive genes acquired from viruses.
This occurs because some viruses insert a copy of their genome into the DNA of whichever species they infect. These are called retro-viruses... HIV is one such.

Where such viruses infect the cells that produce sperm and eggs, they can be passed on across generations.

The human genome contains thousands of these remnants of long-past infections... now rendered harmless... and so does the chimpanzee genome.

Most of them are in exactly the same place on both genomes.
That’s astonishing, so I’ll repeat it: most of them are on exactly the same place on both genomes.

Let’s choose an explanation from a few (non-exhaustive) options:

1. astonishing coincidence

2. when the gods created humans they decided to sprinkle around several thousand retro-viruses, and they put the preponderance of retroviruses at matching sites on both species because... umm... because... well... because... stop questioning the gods!

3. The majority of retroviruses match because both species inherited them from a common ancestor, who had itself accumulated them from the line of its own descent.

The small number which do not match are the remnants of infections that each species has warded off independently since divergence from the common ancestor... as predicted by the Theory of Evolution.

So, which option do you choose?

(feel free to add others)

It's not evidence for evolution, it's only your 'shot in the dark' conclusion of inactive genes, viruses, and DNA.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 Seriously? That's not a "shot in the dark," that is a scientific conclusion based on decades of research and mountains of evidence. Close your fantasy book for five minutes and do some actual looking.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 Apparently the only way for you to preserve the fantasy of your magical entity is to deny the existence of demonstrable evidence... I can show you inactive genes, viruses, and DNA.

I rather picture you sitting in the corner, eyes tightly shut, holding your hands over your ears, shouting 'no, no, not listening lalalalalala!! not listening!! lalalalalala!!'

...and it makes me sad
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2
Apparently the only way for you to preserve the fantasy of your magical entity is to deny the existence of demonstrable evidence... I can show you inactive genes, viruses, and DNA.

You could but you'll only demonstrate that your conclusions are a result of guessing rather than assurance. BTW, you still need to show evidence that my experience with God is fantasy and that He's a magical being. Otherwise, you're believing a lie and not the Truth. What are you afraid of?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 Plenty of us have already shown you evidence. I myself have given you links to scientific articles that break it down so even an іԁіоt could understand.

Although I guess that's a lie, because you still don't understand them.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 demonstrate that your conclusions are a result of guessing rather than assurance

The conclusions are a result of, and constrained by, the demonstrable evidence.

Evidence that destroys your unsupported claims based on the supernatural.

Which is why you run away from the evidence.

...and what is 'assurance' meant to be? Do you accept something just because it makes you feel good?

Seriously? 😂
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire @newjaninev2
Do you accept something just because it makes you feel good?

I accept the Truth whether it makes feel good or not. I can't say that about you two. Scientific articles as well as fallible scientists don't always tell the truth about science. Yet, gullible people, like yourselves, buy into their so called guess work. A lot of us were also gullible also until we met Jesus Christ who showed us the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 Wow. I can't tell if you're trolling or if you genuinely do not comprehend the scientific method in the slightest. But you've made it quite clear that no matter where the evidence leads, you're going to keep your eyes shut, your fingers in your ears, and keep reciting verses from your bibble babble Bible bubble.
