Are you superstitious? Just a little stitious?

My sister is convinced the number 2 is magical, and I might just be starting to believe her. She used to be a horoscope person but evidently has evolved to angel numbers. Now you may be asking what those are - angels numbers are numbers that stumble into your line of sight that were ✨sent by angels✨ intended to represent subliminal messages relating to your life. Why they would take time away from their divine leisure to do this is beyond me, but while I would normally tell her it’s full of shit, I think the seed has been planted in my head.

One of the things she told me (paraphrasing) is that the number 2 is supposed to represent harmony and balance. It represents that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be on your current path. When it’s seen sequentially, like 22, 222, or 2222, it’s supposed to relate to relationships with loved ones. This one stuck with me for some reason, because immediately I thought of the anniversary my boyfriend and I share - the 22nd of April. and had me digging my brain figuring out why. Here’s what I came up with.

We met when we were both 22 years old, on the 22nd of April.

We each had a dear friend who passed away at age 22.

Our birthdays are 22 days apart.

Before we even met he already had an infatuation and a superstition around the number 22 because back when he was a teenager he had a teammate who wore jersey #22 who passed away.

The address of the place we met? 222 E Main Street. My first initial is E, his is M.

Pure coincidence? Possibly. Do I sound like a nutjob? Possibly. But even if that is the case, I think it’s still worthwhile to be just a little bit stitious about things like this. We need all of the inspiration we can get… even if it comes in the perceived form of divine intervention. If that’s what it takes to convince someone to jump at the enticing opportunities life dangles in front of them, good for them. Faith in a higher power has been helping humans realize a purpose for thousands of years - is this really so different from religion?

No. As a Christian, I am not superstitious. It is in opposition to God's Word.

I like the line about "perceived form of divine intervention.' Particularly the word "perceived." Because the truth is just that. It's perceived. It's not based on anything real. It's all made up. Gods, numerology, astrology and all the rest. But it's there for a reason for a whole lot of people. There's a need for some to believe in things outside of the tangible human experience. And if that delivers strength, understanding, kindness, confidence or any of the other positive emotions then I think it has a place. But I'm not sure that's the most common outcome.

@Aleve I could be wrong but doesn't that sort of revolve around "good will?" If so...I'll take it.👍

@Ynotisay yes it’s the same. Good will, duty. An ethical person acts in the way they hope/expect others to act. If you litter cause you think nobody is watching, but then get mad at the litter when you’re on a hike, it means you have a higher expectation for others than you do for yourself. AKA a leech.

@Aleve Right on. Thanks for that. Seems like a pretty easy life strategy, huh? Maybe it'll catch on. :)

Only when it comes to football. For instance I'm convinced that so long as the English keep singing "it's coming home" before the ordeal is over they'll continue to lose 🫠

@Elessar the world can only hope you’re right

@Aleve It's been my observation that if you have a wallet full of cash December 31 and January 1, you will always have money for the year. It could be a lot of $1's and couple of $5',s and a $20 or two.

No you don’t sound like a nutjob but you sound read books both for and against numerology for greater balance. It’s not surprising your sister likes 2 itis considered a feminine number.

Horoscopes people should be careful with because there is more information required to glean the true most accurate information from them.

I'm not really superstitious. My high school football number was 22. We married when we were 22. I'm not superstitious, but I had a routine I always used when batting in baseball in high school and college.

@exexec so maybe a little bit stitious? 🧐

@Aleve Maybe a tiny bit.

I am, but to a very limited extent. I’d never heard of Angel numbers, but the number 256 pops up frequently in my life, so I think it’s lucky….shrug.

To answer the initial question, some. I swam in high school. I seemed to have better luck when wearing my toe ring

I evaluate my stitious ness every week.
