Why does any of that matter?
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@Convivial because it might have stopped the killings
Gloomy · F
@IndigoSavage Are you saying Atheists are more prone to commit violence because they don't believe in a god?
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@Gloomy yes that is what is possible
Gloomy · F
@IndigoSavage Have you ever read a history book?
The belief in God or a god caused massive violence and atrocities throughout history

@Gloomy like the liquidation of the Ughuar people in China, or the massive of Russians by Stalin.

@SW-User Atheism wasn't at the core or the justification while burning women alive and torturing them, the mass murder of jewish people or the crimes of Islam are all justified by theism

SW-User
@Gloomy Only if they are called Joseph Slalin.
Gloomy · F
@SW-User what?

SW-User
@Gloomy There are few manifestations of evil. Letby is one. Comes across as a sweet caring woman too!
Gloomy · F
@SW-User This has nothing to do with whether she believes in God or not.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@IndigoSavage i doubt that
@Gloomy
If reffering to the Nazis- they were actually influenced by the Occult (influenced by old world German paganism) - theology sure but not of the Christian kind.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Not refering to the Nazis but you are not entirely correct the argument that jewish people are traitors and decieitful because they killed Jesus was used and overall plenty Nazis were catholic.
Christianity and paganism were both part of it.
Nazi soldiers wore the slogan "God with us" on their belt buckles

Probably issued as populism to get the vast majority on their side.
The overall worrying role of Christians in Germany and Nazi occupied territories was why the church didn't speak out more-although saying that I do not know how much the general population knew about the atrocities.

@BritishFailedAesthetic I knew a vicars wife who was in the Hitler Youth. She saw nothing wrong with it, and said it was like the Girl guides!
Never faced up to her collective responsibility.
I wonder how Ratzinger had the nerve to become pope after his experience in the ‘boy scouts’.

@SW-User Agreed. I mean collectively though. There were many great Christians who helped smuggle Jews and other ethnic groups out and there were ofcourse Christians who were themselves victims- Edith Stein because of her ethnicity.

@Gloomy ',,,,justified by theism' Justification is a synonym for 'blaming'.... If you need an excuse put it in God's name and you'll be absolved of it. But: That you wilfully did something heinous doesn't remove the moral corruption that motivated you. Insanity due to a belief that God is directing you is different than wilfulness.
