"So the Lord was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart."

How very interesting. I was unaware that God made mistakes.

How can one determined having grief means making a mistake.

Mankind were the ones who were making the mistakes. They loved sinful ways.

@SDavis Did God not realize they would do that? Are you suggesting he is not all-knowing?
SDavis · 56-60, F
@CorvusBlackthorne question _ how is it that a parent or just a human being can know what someone will do - give them all the leniency in the world to make a choice not to do it especially if it's wrong - and regret that the child or the person made the wrong choice - and generally punishes the individual in some form.

You are suggesting he's not knowing!
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@SDavis That is a fallacious question. No one ever claimed that parents were all-knowing. No one has ever claimed that a mother or father could see the future. Your comparison fails utterly.
SDavis · 56-60, F
@CorvusBlackthorne fallacious?? "I never use the words parents are all knowing" I said CAN KNOW .....

And if a human can know what another human will do then the Entity / Spirit / living Energy that we call God nothing is impossible.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@SDavis And yet it was apparently impossible for God to foresee how humans would begin to behave.
SDavis · 56-60, F
@CorvusBlackthorne you think of choose -

God gave man then a choice too - man made his choice - their choice was against God.

Did he know _ yes he did _ but still in order for judgment to be just _ man still had to make his own choice. And even given the OPPORTUNITY to CHANGE man still refused to and **still does**

@SDavis You did not answer my question.

@SDavis God bless you! 🙏

@CorvusBlackthorne how did I "not" answer your question. When I said in my last comment to you "did he know, yes he did."

Only people who think in the manner that you do and use whatever reasonings you all have (which I fail to understand) refuse to see that one can know the outcome but allow the events to be played out giving a CHANCE to individuals to change their minds / hearts.

Another example This person has made up their mind to do harm to that person -- that "knows" this person is going to do harm to them, go to the law file a report, yet the law can't do anything until this person acts and does harm to that person.

Oh well - a continual back and forth has no point

@SDavis
how did I "not" answer your question.
You did not answer the unspoken question.

When a computer programmer makes a program or algorithm, he or she is never disappointed in how the program or algorithm turns out, unless it does something he or she did not expect. For the program or algorithm to do something unexpected, we must assume that the programmer is not omniscient.

By extension, when a god creates living beings, the only time that god would be disappointed in them is if they somehow did something he did not anticipate, indicating that he is not omniscient.

Is God all-knowing or not?

@CorvusBlackthorne Yes he is all knowing, and yes he is disappointed. And yes he knew he would be disappointed, because he knew all along that we would be disappointing. He loved us so much that he planned all along to prove how much he loves us by visiting us sorry people and redeem us to himself at a very high price of being sin for us, so we can be the righteousness of God.

@Carazaa
Yes he is all knowing, and yes he is disappointed. And yes he knew he would be disappointed, because he knew all along that we would be disappointing.
That makes no sense whatsoever. Why wouldn't he just make something that wouldn't disappoint him?
Carazaa · F
@CorvusBlackthorne
1. Because he loves us anyway and he knew he could fix it for us by taking our punishment on his own shoulders to show us how much he loves us.
2. Because he wants us to choose his love, not be forced to love him.
3. Because he has standards in heaven; no sin at all. No hate, just love. Like a father disappointed in his child who is banned from an amusement park until he pays for the stolen gift shop toys. His Dad paid the fine because he knew the son couldn't, in order for his son to get into the park. He did it out of love!
