"So the Lord was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart."

How very interesting. I was unaware that God made mistakes.

When they created the bible looks like they missed a few things that make God look fallible. Like this and where it says he created evil.
Which is reasonable. It a lot of text after all. Some is bound to slip through.
I also find it funny that protestants use a bible created by Catholics many deny are Christians at all. Even going so far as to think they worship Satan. But they will still use the catholic created omnibus.
So doesn't that mean those catholic denying protestants actually worship Satan since they are using a bible created by Satan worshipers?

@Renaci No one - Protestants least of all - considers Catholics "non-Christians." We are literally the very 1st Christians. The issues of difference Protestants have with Catholicism doesn't revolve around the Bible. The reformers rejected the authority of the pope as well as many of the principles and practices of Catholicism of that time. The essential tenets of the Reformation are that the Bible is the sole authority for all matters of faith and conduct and that salvation is by God's grace and by faith in Jesus Christ.

The Word of God is not at center point here; the words remain as viable as ever to both Catholics and Protestants.

@Graylight A couple of little.......ish points.

No one - Protestants least of all - considers Catholics "non-Christians."

Actually, many Americans seem to think exactly that ie Catholics are not Christians.

We are literally the very 1st Christians.

No so. The Orthodox Church were the first Christians. Catholicism came along more than 400 years after the Orthodox Church.

@room101 All the people I have ever run into a who felt that way were evangelical Christians, who assume that no other faith is true Christianity. Catholics are Christians. It’s not even a point that can be argued.

And though the timeline may be a bit more compressed, you are right about the Orthodox Church. It’s a rarely made distinction but an important one. We’ve been fighting over doctrine forever.

@Graylight In terms of actual doctrine, there is very little difference between us, I'm Greek Orthodox Christian btw. We have differences in terms of rituals etc but the actual doctrine is very similar indeed.

The big glaring difference is the Papacy. Not for us thank you very much😉

@room101 @room101 Thought you might be. I was fortunate one time to take a tour of our local Greek Orthodox church during a festival; what an education. And you guys may have more "stuff" than even us. We Catholics love our props.

Yes, we are very close and a lot of people have trouble with the authority of a Pope. I don't blame them, but I think at least currently we've got a pretty good man at the helm.
room101 · 51-55, M
@Graylight Yeah, we love our props lol.

TBH, the Papacy thing doesn't bother me at all. I've got extended family from Rome, some of whom are very devout Catholics, some of them are border-line atheists. It seems to be rather difficult for Italians to admit to being atheists. Especially those that live within shouting distance of the Vatican lol.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@room101 I don't think I've even heard of an Italian atheist. Never thought about that.
room101 · 51-55, M
@Graylight There are a few in my Italian family. Just as there are a few Greek atheists, my father was one. But when my Mum said it was time to go to church for a specific celebration, he went with a smile lol.

I've been living in Spain for the last four years. A lot more "out and proud" atheists here😂
