The Lie: How Can A Loving God Allow So Much Suffering In The World?

The Truth: How can we allow so much suffering in the world if we're so loving?

31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:31

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17

6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Genesis 3:6

22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3 22-24

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

The ones who blame God for all the suffering in this world are the ones who claim that He doesn't live.

There would be a lot less suffering in the world if everyone obeyed God's command to love each other!

My question is, "How could mankind treat, and allow, such a precious loving Savior, to be treated the way He was?" His character is that He is Love personified. Yet they flogged Him beyond recognition, His flesh hung ripped from His body, like melted wax. Exposing inside organs. Yet, He still paid our sin debt, without one complaint. On the cross, He said, "Father, forgive them! For they know not what they do!" Still...He thought of us, not Himself, and hung suspended between heaven and earth for six long, agonizing hours, until His mission was complete. Just so we could go to heaven and be with Him, instead of the alternative. If that's not love, brother, I don't know what is.
Man brought on his own suffering, then blamed God. We reap what we sow. However, there's a list way too long to explain why suffering is allowed, and I doubt even one person out of 10 would believe, anyway, that it is actually for our good. Only someone who has received the Holy Spirit can understand these things of the Bible. Otherwise, the Bible says those things seem to be foolishness to those who have not been born again and have not received the Holy Spirit of Truth.

People want God to act as this big puppeteer, controlling everyone's will. That's not how it works. God's ways are not our ways.

The Adam,Eve, the garden and the stories are metaphors, if you study it historically. You can find these similarities in different myths and cultures. The time line and narration is different.

It’s surprising why we still take everything in Holy Books literally without any effort to find the truth in them.

These Books are guidelines and reminders of some great soul who was send for the benefit of the whole world.
@Renkon
It’s surprising why we still take everything in Holy Books literally without any effort to find the truth in them.
That's the one truth that you have said all day....without any effort to find the truth in them. It's amazing how people quote the Bible, yet have never really read it nor really studied what it says, but will take a quick breeze through its pages, find one scripture, take it out of context, then pretend they have. It's very obvious they haven't because they twist the words to fit their own idea of how they think one gets to heaven. If one will study the bible, they will see exactly how to have eternal life in heaven with God. He makes it very clear, so we don't have to guess, and to ensure we don't miss heaven. The truth is right its pages. You can't call it blind because it doesn't leave to guess. It tells us exactly how to get to heaven. I cannot take the Quran seriously, for many, many reasons. Let's look at some impotant differences in beliefs.

Interestingly, out of all the messengers and prophets of God, Jesus is the only messenger who received the title of al-Masih, or Messiah, in the Quran. However, since Muslims do not believe in "original" sin, they see no need for a saviour and therefore do not believe in Jesus' crucifixion.

Why fixate on "original" sin, when the whole point is, we know we all have a sin nature. That's very obvious in this world. The point is, all sin separates us from Father God until we repent of it, and needs to be remedied by Father God's own Plan of Salvation...by accepting Jesus as Savior, not just a messenger. Why disobey and reject God's own plan to save us? Let's get to the crux of this. How about you answer some questions for a change? Answer the following questions directly, and don't deviate from the subject.

Muhammad certainly gave no plan of salvation. He even admitted to being a sinner. Smart man. Jesus came from heaven. He is the only one that knows how to get there; certainly not man. And certainly not even if man could save himself by his own good works. How would he find God's domain? And even if he did, he would not be able to walk through the doors with sin still on his heels. Tell me how you remedy this? Will man suddenly sprout wings and fly beyond our atmosphere and find God's domain in the third heaven? Impossible.

Who is the savior of the world in Islam?

The Mahdi (Arabic: ٱلْمَهْدِيّ, romanized: al-Mahdī, lit. 'the Guided') in Islamic eschatology, a messianic deliverer who will fill earth with justice and equity, restore true religion, and usher in a short golden age lasting seven, eight, or nine years before the end of the world. Odd...the Qurʾān doesn't even mention him.

Nothing is specific in this Islam belief, like God's Word is. This Madhi, Islamic god, has left people to guess of how to have eternal life, doesn't describe what "true religion" is, and gives NO plan of salvation.

1. Mahdi is a boy's name of Arabic origins.
2. It is said to be a religious name with connections to hadith literature.
3. In Islam, Mahdi is the prophesized messianic figure who will appear at the end of the world. Jesus already made Himself well known, proving Himself to be the real Messiah, performing many miracles. Then there were the 500 people who actually witnessed His death AND Resurrection. Mahdi has yet to come. That means no one has seen him. And these people popping up on YouTube or wherever, claiming to be Mahdi, cannot be him, because he said himself that he would only come at the End of the world. That would be AFTER the Battle of Armageddon, which is yet to come. That also means no one knows what he looks like yet. It would also mean that people who claim to have seen this Madhi god, are lying, because he hasn't even come yet. He couldn't have come earlier, nor disappesred in 878, as some have claimed.
@Renkon If Jesus was "just" a good man, or "just" a prophet, and NOT God Incarnate, that would make Him a liar, or a lunatic....NOT a good man, because He claimed to be the Son of God and proved it, when He was on earth. God is perfect and cannot sin, lie, nor err. We can't have it both ways. To not believe Jesus, is to call His Father a liar, and we know that's not true.
@Renkon One of the biggest differences for me is that Allah says "Die, in order to come to me."... while Jehovah God says, "I will die, so you can come to Me."

I don't think God interferes or it would take all the meaning out of life. Sunshine and lollipops is not a meaningful life. Hard reality I know.
@Axeroberts
Interferes? Friend, God intervenes. That's what he does. He loves us and made us for fellowship with Him. It's never an "inconvrnience". He created us and therefore he is our Father, and as such, he wants us to come to Him. He welcomes it. He told us to come to him when we need help or even just to fellowship with him. He's there for us 24/7.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@LadyGrace intervenes but not interfere. Our lives are random which is how it's been created. Therefore what we do has true meaning. And He is always with us through everything
redredred · M
Gods only excuse is he doesn’t exist.
@redredred God don't need an excuse, but you will, when you face Him and He asks you why you were so hateful to people and cursed and mocked Him. And you will do that, make no mistake. That's one appointment you'll have to keep and there's nothing you can do about it. We'll see how brave you are, then.

@GodSpeed63 I offered to do that to whatever standard of proof you set but you ran away because you know I can do it. My offer is still open if you have sufficient faith in your imaginary friend to accept it - https://similarworlds.com/spirituality/3339251-Does-any-christian-have-sufficient-faith-to-accept

God loves us so much He allows us to CHOOSE. If we choose to follow His laws, we will have less suffering in our lives...suffering will only be brought to us by our mortal bodies, and externally through the evil of other people who do NOT choose to follow God's laws.

Life is our test.

I believe that.
An even more challenging question is why are the people who complain the most about the suffering God allows the most indifferent to it?
