@Entwistle There is this thing in the human psyche called "Exceptionalism".. The idea that we are different somehow. In this case, everything on the planet rises and falls, lives and dies and is recycled. Even our suns atoms have been formed and reformed at least 3 times previously.. But somehow we cant grasp that we are no different. We will come and go..In the end it doesnt matter.. Its just the damage people with those beliefs do while they are alive that is harmful..😷

@GodSpeed63 Well I could say that it wastes effort energy and resources better used on real people like your family and yourself. But thats really your choice to disadvantage those you care about. The greater harm is when believers, genuine or otherwise, start trying to guide people in "the right way" and imposing decisions about their options, life choices or opportunities for them.. In my mind the law should be based around free choice that does no harm to others,. And the rest of it is no ones business but my own.
Belief in god and religion has resulted in more harm to more people than nuclear weapons..😷

Belief in God hasn't done anyone harm. Man made organized religion has killed more people than all wars put together. Non-belief in God has started more wars than could be counted. You forget one little detail in human nature: we have what we call the sinful nature that was acquired to us by the fall of mankind. As hard as man tried he cannot control this sinful nature within him and, according to your way of thinking, would've killed himself off long ago had it not been for the grace of God whom you deem doesn't live.

[How does my love for God disadvantaging my family and my friends? ] As I pointed out, every cent or second you spend worshipping or glorifying the bearded shiny one has to come from someplace. And it could be invested in the real life problems that a father, a head of the household or a true friend always has waiting. I personally invested my life into my family and found concrete rewards I can see. (And who is to say "god" may not view my self sacrifice as better than you pious vanity.?) (I win)

Since a "righteous life" is in my view non productive,] I guess it depends on how you decide whats "harmful" If its drunk driving or beating your wife then those things can be altered without god in the picture at all. Get them to join a support group. (I win)
As for the last point, I stand by it.. God( if she exists) is responsible for organised religion. It says so in the Holy books of all the Majors.. And if she didnt like the way things were going it would have been a simply matter so come down, do a lazy afternoons smiting, lay waste to a couple of Sodoms and what have you and clear the field before sundown.. But it aint happening. Instead we have Putin, Kim Jong Un, Donald Trump, the NRA, Saudi Arabia and Kim Kardashian all still breathing. Solid Proof that even if god existed, he doesnt give a💩 about us. Case Closed,,

You've never proven God isn't real, Lynda. Wars have been started by those who are non-believers being that they can never control the sinful nature within them. God created us love one another and to love Him. He never created us to hate Him or each other.
