Do you believe in the power of prayer?

There are some things I've been praying for my whole life that haven't come true, so now I'm getting to the point where I think prayer is for finding the strength to accept terrible things as they are rather than for changing the circumstances. Have you ever had a prayer answered?

I think… there are a lot of different words for prayer that are essentially the same concept.

Prayer serves an internal purpose. I think you’re partly right that it helps with acceptance, but also hope, sometimes a feeling of connectedness to things beyond your singular experience of existence, sometimes clarity or inner reminders, sometimes the strength to take necessary actions.

I don’t think that prayer grants wishes though. I think.. we make choices that are in alignment with what we say we want or we make choices that are counterintuitive.

In that sense, I’ve had many prayers come true.

@WhateverWorks so you're not really asking for things, but you're able to achieve connectedness, hope, clarity, and inner reminders of your strength. what exactly do you say in a prayer? is it scripted from a religious tome or is it something off the cuff?

Off the cuff, but I’ve also done a lot of reading, so I’m sure I’m unconsciously influenced @blindbob
