I was considering writing a story based on a man who had psychic powers which he used to contact the dead etc. I questioned where this story would fail and it does, why wouldn't he use his powers to win loads of money at poker or some other game where mind reading would be a huge asset? Screwed my story up but maybe gives you an answer to where all the psychics are at...

@GeniUs Some psychics can predict the future and others can't, but they can tell you about your current situation or any health problems. For some reason, most psychics can't or won't predict lotto numbers or horse race winners. If they could, they would not accept 50 bucks from you or me to do it and allow us to walk away with $10MN while they get enough money for a tank of gas.

@DallasCowboysFan and that is why I don't believe psychics exist but it would make a great story if I could just come up with an idea for explaining away why they don't just use the skill to gain wealth. I'm not a fan of just hanging a lantern off it that ruins the whole story.
