Dark Night Of The Soul Questions...

Has anyone ever had a "dark night of the soul"? If yes, how did you make it out to the other side where awakening occurs?

After a few of them, trained myself to realise my mind was playing tricks and things were not that bad and things would be better.

I knew if I didn't do this, I would end prematurely.

Yes I did. I was in my late 20s early 30s and I was devastated. I survived.
@hippyjoe1955 The emotional suffering is something I will never forget.

@horrorfictionwriter Yeah I don't know that I would even call it emotional. It was somehow much deeper than that. Extremely difficult to explain. It had a life changing profundity that I can't even begin to describe.
@hippyjoe1955 yes it changes you forever.

a few times, but got through it.
@Jungleman Bet you were a changed person after you broke through with new insights and a changed ego. I am.

Back in 2001, I thought I had such an awakening. It was more like the start of the Fool's Journey. I became a Christian, attending church weekly, because of an interaction I had with my cousin. He talked me through a version of the repentance prayer, and at the end of it, I was filled with such joyous energy, I concluded that the Christian god was the one true god. It wasn't until five years later that I realized all that happy was being exuded by my cousin. That was my awakening.
@LordShadowfire I am sorry that it didn't work out for you the way you expected. Keep in mind that God has things to show you, to learn from, that will make you feel loved. Be aware of the perspectives you are choosing to focus on. Perspective and intuition can be very powerful.
