Christians we should pity and pray for the Atheists at this time of year more than ever.

This must be a hard time of the year for the Atheists because wherever they look, there are reminders that it's Christmas. The venom and spiteful negativity they bear all year will intensify the closer we get to the 25th. Pity them, don't scorn them.
meJess · F
At the time of year to celebrate the winter solstice? Christ was not born in December, putting a tree in your house and decorating it is a pagan ritual.

Maybe we should pity people who claim to be religious but don’t actually know the details.

@meJess
No, we shouldn’t pity them. More fun to ridicule them instead.

Some Christians think they own the holiday, and the rest of us are being hypocritical
By celebrating it. We like to remind them we’re entitled too.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
The only hard thing about this time of year are ridiculous comments like yours.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 Really don't know why we should have to convert for them. If they can't use a sensible method of measurement, that's their problem 🤣
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Bushranger Six White Boomers?

Certain parts of my life are flashing before my eyes
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 Yeah, it's not really a pleasant memory.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Are you really under the impression that people associate Christmas with Christianity? Christmas is possibly the most materialistic concept in the entire world. People think of gifts, trees, colored lights, snow, Santa Claus, and above all else, shopping.

Honestly, I feel sorry for practicing religious people around Christmastime. It probably sucks seeing a commemoration to a deity having been turned into the world's biggest commercial holiday.
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@BlueMetalChick a lot of the imagary isn't materialistic itself even though it doesn't feature Jesus Himself. And most of it is pleasent and cheerful with lots of nice colours.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@IndigoSavage Look, if you're religious and you celebrate Christmas from a religious perspective, by no means do I think that you can't also enjoy the secular form of Christmas, the decorations and gifts and Santa Claus and all that stuff. What I am saying though is that to the world at large, Christmas does not make them think of the religious holiday and the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. All over the planet Earth, humans celebrate what I usually refer to as Xmas, which is the aforementioned nonreligious holiday. So to say that you feel bad for non-Christians during Christmastime because they're constantly being reminded of Christianity is quite puzzling, as during the month of December, everyone you look, you're reminded of Xmas.

But even putting that aside, the notion that atheistic or nonreligious people are angered and saddened by reminders of religious faith is in and of itself ridiculous. Atheists aren't walking around pissed off on Ash Wednesday every time they see someone with the ash mark on their forehead.
I do not recall a Bible passage where Jesus spoke of "the venom and spiteful negativity" of the persecutors who crucified him.

Jesus said, "Forgive them."

Perhaps you don't intend these posts of yours to be scornful, but that is exactly how they come across.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Mamapolo2016 What seems to drive her crazy is that I just don’t care.

Have a nice celebration IndigoSavage

Remind me again next year, so that we can do this again 😀

I think those whom you address as Atheists love God more than you. Let me wish that all of them will together pray for you. Such a hateful and provocative statement this 👇
Christians we should pity and pray for the Atheists at this time of year more than ever.

The venom and spiteful negativity they bear all year will intensify the closer we get to the 25th.
I don't know which world do you live. Looks like you carry a lot of venom towards people. I have friends from all other religions and even people who don't believe in any God. They all celebrate Christmas 🎄

But people like you are more focused on spreading hate. We should be respectful towards others. On the other hand how many of the festivals of other religions do we celebrate ?

After reading your posts and comments of few fellow Christians out here, it seems that we are the source of hatred in this world. Before trying to change others and the world, let us try to ok change ourselves. Let us learn to give respect to others and automatically others will start respecting us.

I'm an atheist who LOVES Christmas. Why pity a man who both honors and celebrates pagan holidays? I embrace them!
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
Wherever I look there are reminders that the christians are celebrating their christian festival.

I hope they all have a good time

Why does that seem to upset you so much?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@newjaninev2 Mind you, that banal music in the supermarkets and department stores won’t be missed after the 25th 😂

@BlueMetalChick Well, you have to remember it’s a stressful and confusing time of year for them.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
I pray that people will see through all the trappings of tinsel, snowmen and santas, and experience the real gift of Christmas, the Saviour who was born to die in our place so that we can be reconciled with God!!

Without Christ Chistmas would be very meaningless to me.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Talk about a ridiculous view of atheists. Must be hard being a Christian and so filled with hate.
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@ChipmunkErnie Christianity is about love and forgiving not hate
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@IndigoSavage Never studied any history, eh?
@IndigoSavage You would probably call me an atheist, but I'm actually agnostic; are you aware of the distinction? Regardless, the few true Christians I know despise all the marketing and consumerism far more than the non-religious people I know.

Ask some real Christians; they'll explain to you that pine trees and strings of lights and tubby gentlemen in red suits have nothing to do with Jesus. It's kind of amusing how mixed up you are about the difference between marketing and religion.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
All hail baby jesus birth 🤣

IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@EuphoricTurtle that's the spirit
That being said, Atheists are just as bad as the Religious both are on the extremes near the different ends of the spectrum
Spiritualistic Spectrum
Atheists and The Religious are two sides of the same coin, they both think they know it all and have the correct answer to life.
@ninalanyon
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Unity That's hardly a spectrum.
@ninalanyon Buddy, the entire universe is a spectrum the fuck are you talking about 😂
The venom and spiteful negativity they bear all year will intensify

NOW THIS IS THE CHRISTIANITY THAT I LOVE come on can you feel the love here and a most holy day ? or this person that likes to make fun of others. in the guise of caring.

Most people celebrate MALL MAS and if thats their true belief,not to believe,thats fine with me
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
It is quite easy to believe in the good will of one man to another and choose a day to celebrate it. In the Trenches of World War 1 soldiers came out to No Mans Land and played Football. Now if you want to credit god for that, go ahead. Neither of us can prove it. But in the end it was men who had the humanity to do it. Not gods divinity..😷
Hasmita · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Not so happy about religious folk who have a truce from killing each other because it's Christmas🤔
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Hasmita Actually, I dont mind if they were all believers. I simply credit their human goodwill with the act of Humanity. I dont believe god put the good into them. I think it was always there.😷
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
I try not to scorn folk anyway, regardless of time of year. Each to their own, I guess.
Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with religion anymore bud 😂
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
You have to be kidding! We atheists love Christmas. Christmas trees, mistletoe, holly, gifts, food, snow (in the north that is), drink, friends, family, all at once!

Not to mention a chance to see old films that you haven't seen since last Christmas, to hear some brilliant music sung in glorious buildings, and more.
Nothing fails more than prayer.
DocSavage · M
@BlueSkyKing
Have you seen Godspeed63 trying to debunk evolution ?
Now that’s what I call failure.
Nomad7 · 22-25, M
I'm an atheist who loves Christmas. And it's not because I care about Geezus, but because it's one of the happiest times of the year and I love Christmas trees, Santa, gift giving, snow, decorations, eggnog, mistletoes and everything. It's a wonderful escape from mundane life
DocSavage · M

Are you kidding ?
Happy holidays !
if what your are being is christian. or act christian would you really ask these questions to make venom and spiteful negativity to all atheists. shame on you for that. you are a sad sad person .personal thought there . look how it went for these folk. it was a war

You need to learn the difference between religion from relationship.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
You got that right, sister. 👍👍
RedBaron · M
Which, in turn, is the epitome of Christian privilege, being bombarded with their stupid holiday and attitude that everyone should either be or become Christian. Not all non-Christians are atheists, you know.
redredred · M
It’s not hard this time of year. Christmas is a time where all can see that the god myth is no more real than Santa Claus, flying reindeer or toy making elves.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
I pray for the enlightenment of those who think non Christians are venomous and spiteful, and necessarily atheists. 🙏😇
Thodsis · 51-55, M
Please do. All that venom and spiteful negativity really does get to me. I find it unbearable at times. ;)
