How does the Christian confront proof that the Bible is not the word of God but the word of man? [Spirituality & Religion]

How would it affect your view of the Bible as the inerrant word of god to know that one of its most beloved passages was added in later for effect?

The Pericope Adulterae.
You've all heard of it even if you don't know it by that name: John 7:53—8:11, the story of the adulteress where Jesus outwits the Pharisees and challenges the man without sin to throw the first stone.

Well it's not actually part of the bible. It's a later addition and most of the early manuscripts don't have it. And this isn't even a point of significant dispute but is agreed upon by most biblical scholars.

Is it difficult to believe that the Bible is god's word when men can change it like this?

Yes, it's a collaboration of writing by human, in order to share with the future the collective origins of all
@checkoutanytime

If it can be so clear that humans have edited the bible for their own purposes, how do you trust it to reliably share anything?

@checkoutanytime More of a collection.
@Pikachu it really explains every detail of life thoroughly, I take heed to the teaching of the testament, but see no validity in religion, heaven & hell are not what it means.

Have to disagree with you there.
@Pikachu sorry to hear that, you may not of had good teachers on the topic, idk

@checkoutanytime Maybe you didn't have good teachers on the subject and @Pikachu understands it better than you.

They even call one version "The King James Bible", evidence that a male in power wrote it, and as a known misogynist, he cracked down on women because... you know... "Eve"... How obvious is that? @Pikachu
@checkoutanytime

The bible is like any book. You can make it mean everything you want but in terms of actually explaining "every detail of life" ? Nah. And certainly not thoroughly.
@Sharon I've read it many times, and see the lessons play out often, I'm sharing, bc I do care
you guys don't like the testament, ok I get it, it's not hateful ,it's knowledge shared .
@checkoutanytime

This has nothing to do with liking or disliking it. I just disagree with the idea that it has a lot to say about "every detail of life".
It has a lot to say about a very limited number of life's aspects and one can read meaning into verses and apply them where one wishes.
Just look at Bob Larson lol

That's true of other religions too and, quite frankly, their teachings make a lot more sense than those of christianity.
@Pikachu my favorite quote is "Give to Ceasars, that which is Ceasars", says so much to me about the currents of the big tech hightide we are enduring.
@checkoutanytime

My point exactly😉
@Sharon all teach the same lessons, idk why religion still exist honestly, idk why these lessons are not extracted and taught achedemicly

Tribal identity. Structure. Comfort.

@checkoutanytime Collection of beliefs about the collective origins of all. Not absolute. Ezekial, alien life? So where did the aliens come from? US Government has admitted there is substance to aliens here.

@checkoutanytime Which is why people tend to lose money at casinos like Cesar's Palace!😂😂😂
@FlowersNButterflies I've seen more evidence of a creator, then extraterrestrials over my life.

So that means what to others? We believe what we believe for us and nobody else. @checkoutanytime @checkoutanytime

I've seen more evidence of extraterrestrials during my life. Even if there were a creator, there's no reason to believe it's the one christians claim to believe in.
