This sort of stuff is why groups like the Cathars concluded the god of the old testament was the Demierge and that the god of the new testament ie Jesus is a seperate entity entirely because the two are not really reconcilable. You have one who is a mass murdering lunatic and one that is kind of the first hippie (in Judeo Christian belief) in many ways.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
I've heard that idea before and it's the one i find to be the most parsimonious.
OT god is just too vengeful, jealous and violent to be easily reconciled with NT god.

@Pikachu Just curious what you mean by parsimonious in this context.
Your second point definitely something I have believed even when I was still a church going Christian. You basically have to completely different narratives that don't jive.

In this context i'm using it this way:
2: economy in the use of means to an end
especially : economy of explanation in conformity with Occam's razor
the scientific law of parsimony dictates that any example of animal behavior should be interpreted at its simplest, most immediate level

@Pikachu Got it. To me this always made more sense. I mean offering humans salvation doesn't even really seem compatible with a god who supposedly drown almost the entire human population for wrong think. The human sacrifice by torture does kind of fit though.
Anyways once I starting thinking along these lines I started looking outside Christianity because by that point I was a heretic anyway. lol

lol might as well, right?
Yeah i don't see any particular reason to suppose that the Christians and Jews got god right.

Jesus is the author of the old testament, heaven, and earth.
John 1
1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
"10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

@Carazaa Men, He,Him. HIStory,WOman, ...beside beating us into submission...that asinine buybull gave them the idea that they were to be OBEYED and superior, WHICH IS HOW THEY GOT THIS UNDESERVED POWER and haven't they made a damn mess out of the world...bunch of bullshit. it was written by and for men to keep us down and control us...FUCK THAT BOYS!

@Carazaa Because insisting two male gods get to fight over who gets to control you is the solution to liberation. 🤦♂️
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Carazaa technically speaking, Jesus didn't exist in the Old Testament. He's only a figure in the New Testament as a Messiah figure.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 I think she is going with the idea that the god of the Old Testament and Jesus are of the same god which gets into the hot mess that is the trinity.
