From a Christian perspective: If indeed we die and stay in death like sleep until the Resurrection, what does that say about Near Death Experiences? [Spirituality & Religion]

How do NDE's where people claim to see heaven or loved ones line up with what the bible tells us about the dead being dead until the day of Judgement?

According to Catholic faith, there is a personal judgement immediately after death, which is not the same as the last judgement.

Catholics amiright? lol

But seriously speaking, what scripture do they use to justify that?
I'm not saying there isn't any, i'm just not that familiar with the subject.

@Pikachu Catholics believe that there are two sources of revelation: the scriptures and the church tradition (which is believed to inspired by the Holy Spirit).

Hmmm how convenient lol.
A bit like Mormons that way. A handy device to introduce whatever you want into the religion.
Like how Joseph Smith had the revelation that actually it was pretty important to god that he have lots of wives...Good one Joe lol

@Pikachu The last verse in the Bible, Jesus warns not to add anything to the Book as far as Revelation or he will add the plagues of the book onto us, or if we take away anything from the Bible He will take away the reward of the Book from us. so I am super careful personally not to jump to any conclusion that anything is a revelation from God outside of the Bible. I like to get my rewards 🙂 @helenS
@Carazaa

Well i certainly don't remember anything in the bible saying that you and i can have revelations which can change what the bible says.

@Pikachu Right, but I guess Joseph Smith did nevertheless, and many nowadays talk about getting "a word" from God. I personally think that God stopped talking to us other than by the Holy spirit in our hearts. So the NDE probably are hallucinations. But maybe people can come back from dying. They say they can, I'm not so sure I believe them.
