um....so you were born and raised in a Christian tradition and you are today a Christian.
So the answer in your case is a resounding "Yes".

@Pikachu
so you were born and raised in a Christian tradition
No.
@GodSpeed63
No.
Um...well you said you were raised Catholic so you were raised believing in the divinity of Jesus Christ, his miraculous birth, dying on the cross for the sins of humanity and resurrection, yes?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Apparently Catholics are only Christians if they do or say something that people like speedy agree with. I mean to say, the Bishop Usher was a good Catholic, but because he came up with an age for creation, he is considered to be a good Christian. You would, no doubt, be aware of others in this category.

@Pikachu
well you said you were raised Catholic
I was until I became born again and believed in Jesus Christ for who He really is.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 And you couldn't do that as a Catholic?
@GodSpeed63

...so you were raised believing in the divinity of Jesus Christ, his miraculous birth, dying on the cross for the sins of humanity and resurrection, yes?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger
And you couldn't do that as a Catholic?
No.
No.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 Can you be just a touch more expansive on the answers to both those questions, please?
@GodSpeed63
No.
lol ok...when you were a Catholic, what did you believe about Jesus?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
the divinity of Jesus Christ, his miraculous birth, dying on the cross for the sins of humanity and resurrection
Certainly sound like the things my Catholic friends believed in.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu
when you were a Catholic, what did you believe about Jesus?
I don't know. All I know is that I didn't know Him as the Son of God until I became born again.
@GodSpeed63
I don't know.
With god as your witness, you don't know if you were raised to believe in Jesus' miraculous birth, sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead?

Answer honestly and directly.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 How long were you a Catholic for? It seems to me that the Catholics, in fact all denominations that I know of, accept Jesus as the son of
God, etc. Many of them also say they have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Pikachu I'm confused because I was raised in a catholic area and the divinity of Jesus, his miraculous birth, and dying for the sins of humanity is exactly what was taught. 🤷‍♀️
@GodSpeed63 I'm trying to understand where you're coming from, but I need more than "No".
@Straylight

lol well yeah, exactly. Catholics are a sect of Christianity with the bulk of their faith being pretty standard Christianity.
I think our friend is being less than perfectly honest here...
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Pikachu I guess some dont consider Catholicism to be Christian enough. But the story doesnt support his argument. He just went from one sect to another.
@Straylight

For sure. To some if you're not the right kind of Christian then you're not Christian at all.
But yeah, it's like going from vegetarian to vegan or vice versa because you don't believe in exploiting animals for food.

I think i scared him off though lol
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Straylight I've found that those, like yourself, who belong to mainstream denominations are less fundamentalist and more willing to listen to other's opinions. Thank you for you valuable responses.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu He'll be back later, though. Probably just trying to find a response.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Bushranger I was raised catholic, but I honestly dont know what I am now. Open to ideas, I guess.🤷‍♀️
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Straylight I was raised Methodist, but became an Atheist in my teens. Guess not everyone continues to believe.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Bushranger I wouldnt be shocked if there was just nothing beyond this life. Its logical, after all.
But being raised in the south, it's hard to go full atheist. It's like I still want the comfort of there being an answer.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Straylight That's the beauty of living in Australia; religion, or the lack thereof, isn't such a big thing.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Bushranger New Orleans is a pretty laid back region. Its predominantly catholic, but most people are live in let live. I've not faced any flack for being a gay pagan. At least not to my face.
