Are there any logical arguments for Christianity or Islam? [Spirituality & Religion]

For Christianity I believe there is a pretty decent argument if you really examine it. As for Islam I don't believe so..

There is nothing logical about either, except that they were both invented to gain political power.
walabby · 61-69, M
@walabby I wasn't expecting BA.. Thanks.

Trust me, if there was a logical argument for Christian faith, I wouldn't be an atheist. 🤭

Why do you seek logic from subjects that require faith?
@SW-User I think she may have just used the wrong word there. I think specific would be more applicable.
pentacorn · F
nah... in the end, they're both totally illogical.
ladycae · 100+, F
ok i have just read 35 posts most of which mock faith yet not one that mocked atheists. just because we believe different things doesn't mean anyone has the right to mock someone else's ideas, faith or belief systems. there are things i find utterly stupid about atheism but i don't go around spewing insults right and left. one thing i keep reading is that atheists are attacked here and feel they have religion crammed down their throats here but i just don't see it. i see atheists attacking people of faith all the time but with the exception of joe who is just troll no one attacks atheists. one of you has even said on some occasions that he deliberately tries to trigger Christians. he thinks it's fun. one big difference i see is that Christianity encourages believers to be kind and thoughtful of others. but there must be some tenant of atheism that says insult faith every chance you get.

@Fernie give me an example of a Christian proselyting please
ladycae · 100+, F
@Entwistle not according to sw tos
@ladycae I can name a few more than Joe, which is why it falls to Christians to criticize other Christians (or those posing as Christians) who get out of line

No, there aren't, if you believe in the Burden of Proof.

None. They share self-contradictions, belief they are the one and only, and violence.

My value system considers them harmful to humans and our fellow Earthlings. This is BEFORE the manipulation by the so-called leaders who use it as a tool for personal power.

People are free to believe whatever they want, which is pretty much what it all boils down to. Conservatives seem to believe that Donald Trump is a god, for example. If they really want to think that he is an all powerful being that is immune to a dangerous virus, then that's okay 🤷🏼‍♀️.

@Emosaur No. You need to use some imagination, and recognise that that the early parts of the Bible are allegorical and not to be taken literally. And we know hardly anything about the universe.

@Emosaur Well, I’m very glad to hear that you have been to them. I’m not for a moment suggesting that the experience should change your beliefs, which are the same as mine, Only that they might make you think, as they make me think, about the beliefs of those who built them. And in the case of Cologne, to wonder how it was that the great cathedral remained standing when everything around it was razed to the ground by Allied bombers in 1943.
Nika2002 · 22-25, F
To what 'logical' Christian argument do you refer?
Fernie · F
There is nothing logical about any religion
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I remember laughing when I read that Islam teaches a flying horse and a talking pen exist.
No I don't believe any real argument exists for taking either seriously.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Christianity has a talking snake and a talking donkey!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@walabby Yep,equally as mad!
Quizzical · 46-50, M
There is much to be said for Christianity over other belief systems.
Sharon · F
At least Moslems I've met and/or chatted to are polite and don't try to prove their case by insulting or threatening those who don't agree.
Logic has very little to do with any belief system that requires you to accept the presence and word of a being you cannot see or hear. 🤔
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
What makes you think that there are better arguments for Christianity than Islam? Or the reverse?
popmol · 22-25, M
if one is useless then so is the other, to me they are both useless
Thanos · 31-35, M
they make as much sense as paper boat in lava
curiosi · 61-69, F
People have a right to believe as they wish.
syfy86 · 46-50, M
All beliefs (not just religions) can't be proven. It doesn't mean they can't be critically explored and it certainly doesn't mean they shouldn't be explored. It's very important to explore our faith but it's equally important to realize you won't be proving it logically
