What Are The General Epistles? [Spirituality & Religion]

What are the general epistles and how much can you tell me about them/where to find out more about them?
General epistles (also called Catholic Epistles) are books in the New Testament in the form of letters. The letters attributed to Paul are not included. Listed in order of their appearance in the New Testament, the General Epistles are: 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, and Jude.

First things first. If you are going to just grab the Bible and read it without knowing Jesus as your Savior, you would be going about it all wrong. You can, but it won't Have much meaning for you if you can't understand it. In order to understand scripture, one must have accepted Jesus as their Savior, at which time the Holy Spirit is given to you as a gift from God, and which in turn, as your teacher, helps you to understand the things of the spirit, that is written in God's Word.

Epistles, first of all, are really just letters. The Epistles in the New Testament were letters circulated among early Christian churches to define Christian doctrine following the life/death/resurrection of Christ. Most of the Epistles were written by the Apostle Paul to churches in specific cities, or to specific people: Rome, Corinth, Ephesus, Timothy, Titus, Hebrews, etc. A few of the epistles were not written to a particular church but rather to the church in 'general'. These are the general epistles: they were written by Peter, James, John, and Jude and bear their names. You can find them at the end of the Bible.
Sorry. Meant the General Epistles are: James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, and Jude.
