Only an atheist could truly answer, and I get it, that you have encountered some very rude atheists. But I would say that the most realistic thing we could apply to ALL atheists is that they don't have the hope of an afterlife, and when their lives are difficult, or when they feel there is no hope, they do not have the comfort of a belief in a God who loves them.

while i do appreciate your post, your ideas about atheism isn’t correct.
At this point in my life, I haven’t seen evidence for a god. i’ve seen people who have faith and believe in something beyond them. That’s fine,
i had imaginary friends when i was a kid too..
I grew up in church, and there was nothing I ever experienced that let me know there was anything going on beyond human attention seeking behavior.
Don’t dredge up faith etc
At some point, humans are responsible for their own actions and well being.
non believers accept that responsibility and don’t rely on something unseen.
I am ok without god.

When one of the pantheon of deities decides to do something, I will be here.I am all for freedom of religion AND freedom from it.
Freedom of speech is also very important to me as well.
As long as Westboro Baptist and anti abortion advocates protest.
As long as priest and bishops are being defrocked.
As long as gay and lesbian couples are allowed not to hold marriage ceremonies in churches.
As long as there are super churches that allow pastors gross lifestyles..
As long as science is discounted as a belief.
