Atheists, if Charles Darwin is right, why did the nasty seagulls which stole my sandwich and intimidate me have webbed feet? [Spirituality & Religion]

This was in the city. The seagulls live by no water. So why did they have webbed feet? Only ducks need webbed feet. And maybe swans im not sure.

Did You Know?
Built in 1913, the Seagull monument in the Salt Lake City commemorates the 'Miracle of the Gulls', an event wherein the seagulls ended a severe cricket infestation, thereby helping the Mormon settlers.

Gulls are birds that belong to the Laridae family. Initially, most of the species were included under the genus Larus. However, several species have been placed under other genera. The characteristic features of these white or gray-colored birds include webbed feet, long bill, black markings on the head or the wings. While the term 'seagulls' is often used by most of us, ornithologists refrain from using this term.

What sets them apart from most birds is their highly adaptable nature and intelligence. Though the term 'seagulls' suggests that these birds live around sea or water bodies, gulls sometimes move away from the coast, nesting on the rooftops. It is believed that this might be due to the availability of ample food in such areas, along with the less likelihood of attacks by predators. They are opportunist and will steal your food.

Because it takes hundreds of thousands of years for animals to physically change from their environment maybe there was once a lot of water there.
Not an atheists but it takes a long time for a trait to evolve out. Humans still have some traits left behind from our prehistoric ancestors haha

They’re perfectly adapted to poo on people’s heads too.
And pigeons are.

People’s eyebrows look like seagull wings. Have a look - I’m right. You’ll never unsee that now I’ve told you. You can even make them flap up and down.
And you’ll always seethe about your food that they burgled. @IndigoSavage
