The transport ship which brought the god beings moved on to explore other star systems. They will circle back but the orbit will take roughly 42,000 years before they will return. If we have developed a sufficiently advanced civilization by then, we will be invited to join them in exploring the galaxy. If not we will be utilized as a food source.

Honestly i find the notion of god as an alien to be a lot more congruent with what we see in the bible.
It makes much more sense with a god who is actually just some kind of person rather than an all powerful divine entity.
