If it's true that the bible is true then i would believe....
I confess that i'm not sure how useful a question this is. If i knew that the god of the bible was real then would i believe the god of the bible was real...uh yeah.

But as for the interpretation of the KIND of god represented in the bible...well i think there'd still be some issues.

There's far too much genocide for me to buy the NT line that god is all loving.

@Pikachu Thought so!
@Carazaa

lol thought what?
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu That even if the Bible is true you would still rebel because it is your way or the highway with morality. You tell God He is immoral. And wont bend your knees and bow!
@Carazaa

Definitely. Can you honestly say that i should behave differently?

If i see a tyrant who kills millions of people, more than hitler, more than stalin, should i bend the knee in worship?

Why does being master excuse brutality. Can you explain that for me without saying that the master actually loves us despite his brutality or that we deserve to be brutalized?
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu You have faulty logic, blaming God for human sin!
@Carazaa
You have faulty logic
That's far too vague an accusation.
Be more specific about how my logic is faulty.

If i see a tyrant who kills millions of people, more than hitler, more than stalin, should i bend the knee in worship?

Why does being master excuse brutality. Can you explain that for me without saying that the master actually loves us despite his brutality or that we deserve to be brutalized?
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu I have shared my views with you before on the logic to tell God he is wrong, when
1.He is more loving than you by a far shot!
2.You don't know God
3.You didn't make the world so you are not as smart!
@Carazaa
1.He is more loving than you by a far shot!
Not sure i agree with that. God's love is conditional. We must love him and believe in him or else he's content to let us suffer. I have more love than that. I don't demand that someone love and worship me in order for me to take care of them. No good parent demands love and worship from their child in order to take care of them.
Heck, even a dog loves unconditionally. But god can't? Doesn't seem more loving to me.
2.You don't know God
I only know of god through the bible and what i read there is monstrous. Don't get me wrong, there's some nice bits in there too. But we can't ignore the genocide because he's got good days.
3.You didn't make the world so you are not as smart!
lol no arguments there. I have to assume i'm not as smart as a universe creating deity.
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu Ha ha this is a step in the right direction because You have never before admitted that God is smarter! Yahoo! And as long as you say you know God, and also say he is a tyrant than you
a. Don't know Him
b. Don't know yourself
@Carazaa

lol well i don't think i've ever claimed to be smarter than god.

Based on the record of his actions in the bible, please make the argument that he is not a tyrant.
He demands complete submission and he destroys millions of people if they are not behaving as he wants.

Can you explain how that is not tyrannical?
Remember, even a murderer can be loving to his family but that doesn't make him less of a murder.
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu God is never mean to His children. He gives them special treatment. Better than you would treat your child!
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa How does the suffering of infants fit into the idea of 'special treatment'?
Carazaa · F
@Bushranger Read Exodus 20 carefully!
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Doesn't answer my question. Also, didn't Jesus die for our sins?
Carazaa · F
@Bushranger Precisely!
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa So we come back to my original question.
@Carazaa
Better than you would treat your child!
Well i think that's where we'd disagree. I don't have any children so maybe i can't say but i don't think i'd want to kill them all if they were being bad.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Trust me, sometimes you do 😊

But true, children should be loved and protected unconditionally.
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu He says they aren't his children if they aren't his children and walk with Him! Especially if they hate him!
@Carazaa

Hey that's fine. He doesn't have to love me if i don't love him.
Just seems to me that i still wouldn't kill a person or many, many people because of that.
Especially if they were so much less enlightened than myself.
If you're being honest, wouldn't you let us live? Would you kill all but a handful of us because we weren't doing life right?

Or maybe we're just like diseased flesh. Gotta cut that out to prevent it taking the whole body. We unbelievers, we're a cancer to be expunged from humanity.
Shit, that would suck. No mercy for the diseased lol
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa @Pikachu just for clarification, are we talking metaphorical or actual children here? But regardless of the answer, the OT God has ordered the killing of actual children, not a loving action.
@Bushranger

I'm talking metaphorical because if we're not metaphorically his children then he wouldn't give a damn that literal children of us non-children were being killed.
But i don't find it easy to justify the "documented" slaughter of children in the ol bible.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Imagine if everyone acted the same way as the OT God? You really wouldn't want to piss anyone off.
@Bushranger

Well it sure would stress me out lol. Can you imagine more than one of a being like that?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
But i don't find it easy to justify the "documented" slaughter of children in the ol bible
Does seem very hypocritical. At least the NT version is less brutal.
