atheists: don’t believe in anything. nothing nada zero.
Just as a matter of clarification: atheists can believe in a whole host of things including the paranormal or supernatural. The only thing that makes you an atheist is that you disbelieve or lack belief that a god or gods exist.
Sadly when you take religion vs atheism to it's extreme it becomes a life or death issue. The religious literally think they are saving people from death. And the atheists think they are saving the religious from lies. The religious have more fervor because they have more on the line really.
Well let's be fair: This really isn't an issue for most theists. To my knowledge there's only one fundy christian on here who insists that atheists believe in some kind of god and so are not really atheists.
So, by correcting that statement you're saying that atheists CAN believe in god(s) and CAN have religion? Seems you're adding confusion rather than removing it.
I tend to be more agnostic. I think it’s extremely arrogant to assume that our tiny brains can even begin to know the secrets of the universe. Although I do think most religions are an absolute joke.
@zerofuks2give true. I am agnostic too with a bit of atheism. But don't tell that around. I unintentionally offended a Hindu guy when I told him I am an agnostic.
I think what this discussion really boils down to is how you define religion. Whether it is simply a system of beliefs or a belief in God’s and deities.
