IF you believe in God, why do you? [Spirituality & Religion]

Just curious...I myself do.
A lot of people "believe", but that's all the further it goes with some. Repentance needs to go with that, turning away from a life of sin, to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior. Even Satan "believes" God is real, yet he's not going to heaven. Big difference.

When I was at the lowest point in my life, I didn’t know where to look for the answers to life...let alone, whom to turn to for help. It was then, that Jesus told me to look in the one place I had never looked before. He told me to look UP. I did. I looked to Jesus and repented of my sins, and received forgiveness that day. He erased all my sins, and the Holy Spirit transformed my heart and mind to be more Christ-like, and gave me a brand-new life in Christ. That was on July 23, 1973, and I’ve never been sorry I did, nor regretted one second of it. All you have to do to receive His love, is ask. He turns no one away.

It’s not about being good or trying to stay good. We're not saved by good works.
It’s not about religion.
It’s not about wishful thinking. God keeps His promise to save.
It’s not about positive thinking or mere hoping.

It’s about trusting God to keep His Word. And He does. Trusting in Him and following Him day to day.

God is perfect. He CANNOT lie. After 46 years of knowing Him, I can tell you with full confidence ...He is trust-WORTHY. You can count on Him to keep His Word. What He says, He will do.

When you have a problem, just look up. God is ALWAYS there for you. All you have to do is ask, and receive. He turns no one away.

When I was very small I was trained and schooled to believe in God, and I'm so glad. When my life turned upside down and I had no one, I had Him. God, (or His holy spirit), has been my companion, my Father, and my comfort. I believe honestly that He has kept me alive through some very bad times.

@4meAndyou I feel the same way :)

@TheyWhoseNameCanNotBeSpoken
what cost in time? Money or irrationally?
You don’t need religion to waste time or money, and there are plenty of irrational people who are not religious...
Amen, my friend, amen!
Because I had an experience as a kid and I also can’t believe that everything came from nothing. It’s impossible. Creation had to have a creator.

For me, I was raised to believe. But then as I got older I experienced things that could not be coincidences. So now that's why I believe

My faith was shattered when a little girl died horrifically in the ICU room next to mine when I was recovering from blood clots in my lungs.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 I no longer believe any of those things anymore. Even Billy Graham's own personal assistant left the faith and became an Atheist in the 50's after a horrible family tragedy.
Do you think it’s more of anger toward God rather than believing he doesn’t exist? Maybe ignoring him due to personal tragedy? What do you think? What you experienced was traumatic.
I have lost so many relatives in the last 17 years. Miscarried Twins, lost my parents, cousins, aunties, uncles. The first two were the hardest. I suffer from depression and ptsd. I was angry with God, but at the same time I felt abandoned and had no one else. Without God my life becomes so dark and meaningless. God is real and my faith is constantly tested. Some days I long to go to heaven so I don’t have to endure anymore loss, but I have to trust in him that he knows what is best.

But look at the millions who came to know Christ because of Billy Graham. I loved him. He was such an amazing man of God. @NativeOregonian

God spoke to me at a youth event in church when I was 17, I gave Him my life that day and I've never looked back, God has been with me every day, blessed me and healed me miraculously.

And what He's done for me He'll do for anyone

I was raised that way.. and never found any rational true reason to believe otherwise

Because I feel His presence inside of me. I have Jesus Christ in my heart.

I just do, it seems natural. I couldn't imagine not believing

Which God?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@walabby
Which God?
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. His name is Yahweh, the one true God who lives forever.
