Why do people always forget the word 'theory' in the theory of evolution? [Spirituality & Religion]

Its just a theory. I'll pass no commentary on its validity, just pointing that out.

The term has a different meaning in science. Look at the theory of gravity, nobody jumps off a cliff because it's just a theory.

There are two types of Gravity in Science.
One is a “Law” developed by Newton.
There is also a theory of Gravity.

@SW-User No they aren’t.
One is classical theory.
The other was developed through Einstein.

Don’t correct me if you don’t know what you are talking about.
Theory of relativity includes gravity with spacetime
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Pfuzylogic The law of gravitation is a mathematical relationship that’s observed in a certain frame of reference. It’s a formula, a repeated observation.

The theory of gravity is far more.

Yes thank you for affirming my point.
Newton had no way of knowing the theory of relativity.

@Pfuzylogic Newton didn’t know much about a lot of things. He didn’t even attempt for a serious theory of gravity. He did manage to formulate his laws, which were incredibly useful. But they’re just an observed and measured relationship, that falls apart at extremes.

I am at a point of defining gravity and there is more than a theory that says apples fall. Get over yourself.

My point is that theory is theory...unproven.
Pfuzylogic · M
@SW-User Thank you for underlining the intelligence of your argument.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Pfuzylogic Nothing is ever proven. A theory is merely as good as it gets. Many of the current consensus theories are extremely well-supported. Nobody expects heliocentrism to be overturned any time soon. But proven? No.

You don’t need me to be your foil.

@Pfuzylogic A scientific law is a specification of completely predictable localised effects under given conditions... it tells us what will happen

A Theory is a complete, consistent, and coherent, explanation for evidence gleaned from observation.

They're two different things.

Newton's Laws of mechanics

Einstein's Theory of General Relativity

@Pfuzylogic
theory is theory...unproven
As I pointed out earlier, that's the point of a Theory... nobody is trying to prove it. Everybody is trying to disprove it. It remains accepted until it is falsified, at which point the falsification allows us to replace it with a better Theory

Sir “Roger” has to spank Hawking in the 60s. Gaia is currently rebuking all of the filler people had called science fact” for decades. I can see why Hawking kicked it on Pi Day. He got his noteriety and is buried next to Newton.

Can’t let you have the last word you scrounge lol
@SW-User

Um dude?
I can't see who you're talking to but it sorta sounds like you're every bit as as desperate to get the triumphant last word as you seem to think he is.

Maybe he's a twat but this is not a good look.
