He (presumably) understood that theory very well, right?
So if even [i]he[/i] did not consider evolution to be incompatible, why do modern creationists?

I remember one argument from a religious professor I had was that there has to be energy input into a system for it to function. And since Earth is by itself that energy must come from God. But in my head I'm thinking, "earth isn't a closed system. It gets energy from the sun."
