Atheism is dangerous? Really? [Spirituality & Religion]

When has anyone ever cut off another person's head in the name of atheism?
When has anyone ever invaded foreign countries in the name of atheism?
When has anyone ever started a war in the name of atheism?

It sure is dangerous. For one thing there are no such people that are atheists even though skeptics claim to be.
Can you point to an example of people hurting others in the name of not believing in a god?
Yeah, practically every suicide that has ever been committed to start with. That so called cult of yours takes away people's hope that God so richly gave to them.
SatanBurger36-40, F
@GodSpeed63 That last part of what you said is the result of categorical thinking. Not every suicide is because of a lack of religion and in fact I'd argue that some suicides are in part because of religion. Take the Middle East for example where little girls commit suicide because they don't want to marry older men and before you go off on a tangent saying that it's because their not Christian, Christians did the same as well for the better half of the Middle Ages and in some sects of Christianity today they still do it.

Yes they once made laws that you had to have your head covered and if you weren't married when you were young, you were thought to be ruined. A woman couldn't even enter a Catholic church unless she had her head covered. We had religious rulers in the form of Kings and Queens mostly Catholic who were so inbred they did things like mass murder because of their genetics were prone to that, those inbred royals thought they were the pure and clean, meanwhile the rest of human history was held hostage by a group of royal inbred people who had a superiority complex lmao.

On the other you have gay people, don't you think that affects the children when the parents are so bigoted in their religion they can't accept them or even at least try for the sake of their child? In some countries being gay can get you killed, these are mainly Catholic/Christian/Muslim countries, all religious.

However most suicides are not because of religion at all but because of environmental aspects. The caste system in India for example, poor health for another, poverty for another.

None of those are caused by atheism because when the church ruled, it isn't exactly like your nose is clean in history. That's the point here. Yes there were non religious dictators but even that's up to debate because if you look at their actions they were hardly secular. Hitler and his Nazi's for example have 1,000s of religious memorabilia that is well cataloged.

Historically, even if atheism wasn't perfect and still have their body counts we now enjoy far more rights as a secular country. Marital rape wasn't made illegal until the 1990s and we all know abusers marry their victims as a form of control both women and males do this. Combined that with a society that looked at women from the ancient old biblical passage of "Eve stole knowledge so therefore women are evil" then you have a powder keg ready to go off.

Secular countries have far more rights than non secular ones this is a fact.

@GodSpeed63 Also there's a lot of things in the universe to be fascinated by. Metaphysics (some call junk science but still interesting,) black holes, different planets in the solar system, thought experiments, the Tardigrade a microscopic animal that can live 200 years without food or water and even live in space, evolution itself is amazing.

I find fundamentalists to be somewhat nihilistic in the fact that they can't seem to find any enjoyment other than death, sacrifice, Gods and religious wars for dominance.

Yes there were dictators that targeted religious people but none of them were 100% secular as there is a difference between secular and ANTI theist which is often more militaristic in nature.
@GodSpeed63
For one thing there are no such people that are atheists
Wrong.

An atheist is someone who does not believe or disbelieves in the existence of a deity.
Many such people exist.
No matter how you attempt to twist the meaning of the word (and you must, since no definition supports your assertion) it does not make atheists any less of a real thing.

Oh, you'd like to say that people replace god in their lives with false idols like money or sex or pride? Fine. But those people still do not believe that those things are deities.

Go on. Make a counterargument for once. I DARE you馃榿
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@Pikachu
Wrong
You're right, I should say, there are no living people that are atheists. All atheists are lying 6 feet under their headstones.
@GodSpeed63

Nope. Still wrong.

Address my argument or concede the point.
Making another deflection like that one will necessarily cause you to concede the point by default.

Strike one馃榿
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@Pikachu If you say so. Romans, 1:18 -32 says otherwise.

@LvChris

Yup. And it makes even less sense here lol
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@Pikachu
they're not brainwashed or anything

Yup. And it makes even less sense here lol
If we are brainwashed it's because were cleaned out of the all the garbage that this fallen world has offered us. It's a different kind of brainwashing than your used to. Yes, it does make less sense to you because of ignorance and primitive superstition.
@GodSpeed63

Gonna call that strike two and a half, pal.

Last chance.
In front of everyone, you will now refute my arguments as to why there exist real, living atheists or you will necessarily be forced to concede the point.

Aaaaand Go!馃榿

@LvChris

lol that might be fun
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@LvChris @Pikachu Just in case you missed it, I described brain washed as getting rid of the filthy lies this world offers and having my brain cleaned with God's truth.
PikachuTrainer26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 so you think Indoctrination is getting your brain "washed" of perceived lies?
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@PikachuTrainer No, becoming born again and being filled with God's Holy Spirit of truth cleanses me through and through of the lies in this world.
PikachuTrainer26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 right, and which lies are those? I'm guessing it is anything that doesn't quite match up with your religion?
@GodSpeed63

Aww buddy.
Well i gave you a fair shot but in a move that surprised LITERALLY NO ONE, you backed down from a direct challenge to substantiate your claim.

So that would make this

GodSpeed6361-69, M
@Pikachu
Aww buddy
I'm afraid not, buddy. You're out, for the time being.
PikachuTrainer26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 I'd say you are, since you never back up your claims nor provide credible evidence beyond wild delusion.
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@PikachuTrainer
I'd say you are, since you never back up your claims nor provide credible evidence beyond wild delusion.
Yes, you can say that but it wouldn't be the truth. My God says otherwise and I know He speaks the truth.
PikachuTrainer26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 unfortunately for you it would be the truth, you are trying to hide behind your own delusions, to the point where it has become absolutism.
@PikachuTrainer

Don't even worry about it man.
This guy is dishonest. Very much so. No matter what his actual conviction in his faith is, he's demonstrated himself to be dishonest and a coward.

Wanna see me make him do his trick? He's going to make an excuse, say that he already has or focus on an irrelevant portion of the post.
I really wouldn't waste any more time on him if i ere you.

Hey! @GodSpeed63 ! If you DO in fact back up your claims (since you don't play games and give straight answers) then present a counterargument for the fact that living, breathing atheists do in fact exist.

Now dance, monkey!馃槅
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@PikachuTrainer
unfortunately for you it would be the truth, you are trying to hide behind your own delusions, to the point where it has become absolutism.
Since you haven't proven anything other than the fact that it's your opinion, your words are invalid and my God still lives. That's the truth.
GodSpeed6361-69, M
@Pikachu
This guy is dishonest.
Not even close, buddy.
