I think my new next door neighbours might be Atheists.... [Spirituality & Religion]

Recently a new family have moved in next door and while they initialy seemed perfectly circumspect and pleasent, I have started having suspicions about them.

Mostly I am apprehensive about them because of their child, who is 14-17 years old but I can't be exactly sure because he's a goth/emo and is always wearing an insane amount of makeup.

When I first went to introduce myself, my first thoughts were that he's of to a fancy dress party but that was months ago and every time I've seen him he's always dressed in black and pale as a ghost and usually, wearing mascara.

Obviously this is more than a phase he's going through and something is up with this new family. I consider the parents suspect and culpable.

Ahh you’re one of those annoying neighbors who can’t mind their own business:

@Jm31xxx lol who gives a shit about the community? 😂 you’re more of a problem than someone who minds their own business. People like you are the reason people hate middle class suburbs.

14-20 (and older) year olds will always rebel in some way, its whats called the Teens years you might of had neighbours who thought the same about you back then,

What the hell does it have to do with you?

Hmmm well it sounds like an average teen to me, and I'm not sure what the families religious beliefs (or lack of) have to do with it. I myself believe in God and have accepted Jesus and will be the first to tell you some atheists are better people them some of the self-proclaimed Christians.

If the boys family is not abusing him and are providing his needs than I don't see a problem in their parenting. If the boy is just wearing black and not causing trouble for anyone what's the trouble? I don't understand why it bothers you so much.

Not necessarily. They could be those types that "encourage the child to be themselves" (or they could be the type that says, "Sure, go ahead" meanwhile keeping an embarrassing collection of photos to show their future grandkids)

@TheMorningsStar Yes 🤗
So the kid being goth means the family is atheist?

And the religious faith of your neighbors is something you actively evaluate?
oh the horror. you should probably move now, save your soul before they curse you with The Cure music
Shame you are so judgmental. Maybe another word too...Teens go through many phases. I suggest you try to be open-minded. You aren't old so this is easy. But seeing as you are against anyone who is not like your religion whatever that is...I think you are a sad person. Everyone has the right to his or her own religion as long as they don't try to hurt you or shove it down anyone else's throat. I am glad I am not your neighbour.
