What do you believe? [Spirituality & Religion]

Beliefs.
Everyone has one. Whether or not everyone believes it, we all believe in something. We reach ouch and thank the goodness of something. Maybe just closing our eyes and just saying thank you, that is the belief that someone or something is listening.
Naming it, now that is where it gets confusing. Puts it in the place of having labels. Labels are not all what they are cracked up to be.
Some labels come with rules.
With rules comes the misunderstanding in the whole concept of having beliefs in the first place. I mean if I believe in something or someone that should be based on how I feel or what I know right? When someone else is making the rules it becomes me following them and what they believe and not what I think.
Therefore does it then turn into someone controlling my beliefs or me not caring enough to form my own opinions?

Something in my experience that comes up well with detecting whether you believe in something or not is to see whether there is a sudden change in your mental or emotional state or you react as soon as something related to your belief has been spoken.
In that sense, mind cannot not have belief because otherwise we all will be thoughtless. Which is what the Buddhists aim for through meditation.

So although my mind does have beliefs I recognize that but as soon as I discover that I am trapped by a belief I distance myself from it for the moment than engage in it.
