What do you believe? [Spirituality & Religion]

Beliefs.
Everyone has one. Whether or not everyone believes it, we all believe in something. We reach ouch and thank the goodness of something. Maybe just closing our eyes and just saying thank you, that is the belief that someone or something is listening.
Naming it, now that is where it gets confusing. Puts it in the place of having labels. Labels are not all what they are cracked up to be.
Some labels come with rules.
With rules comes the misunderstanding in the whole concept of having beliefs in the first place. I mean if I believe in something or someone that should be based on how I feel or what I know right? When someone else is making the rules it becomes me following them and what they believe and not what I think.
Therefore does it then turn into someone controlling my beliefs or me not caring enough to form my own opinions?
Just pondering...

It always amazes me when people say “there’s no way to know“. There is no way to know for those people, because they don’t want to know. That’s the bottom line. We have God’s Word, which gives us every answer to life that we need to know. And that’s why it was written.

It’s just as some have said, even here...if they knew, that would entail responsibility, and God forbid we be responsible for our lives and actions. That’s why people hate the law. A sinner can’t find God, for the same reason a thief can’t find an officer. They just don’t want to, but they’ll be accountable to God in the end, regardless of if they ignored Him now, or not. That won’t change God’s plans one bit.

@LadyGrace all i know is what some person told me and people are easily mistaken. he was told by another or by a book that's been passed down and re written so many times an original version no longer exists. so no there is no way to know 100% for sure. for all i know the Egyptians had it right and Ra will judge us in the end.

I’ve heard so many say that about the Bible. If they’d search it out, they’d see there’s nothing wrong about the Bible and the changes were minor. Yes, when you have something handed down through the ages, you’re going to have transcripts missing or lost, that’s just a given, however, the main theme and message has survived through the ages...and that is how to get to heaven. That’s what’s important. I believe the key here, comes down to whether we believe in Jesus or not. Will we trust God or mere, sinful man? God is either a liar, or not. I put no confidence in what man says. There are false teachers that Jesus warned about. So who do we believe? Fallible man, or a sinless, perfect God, who cannot lie?

We can be sure. That’s the whole point of the Bible. So that we could know and not have to guess. If we cannot trust God, who can we trust? Check out every one of the alternatives and you’ll see they fall short. Why? Because the key here, is that without Jesus to mediate for us, on our behalf, before God the Father, There is no other way to have access to His Father, to have our sins forgiven. Jesus made that very clear in His Word.

1 Timothy 2:4-6 - “...who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.…”

God did not leave us to guess. He desires that all be saved and have eternal life.

Something in my experience that comes up well with detecting whether you believe in something or not is to see whether there is a sudden change in your mental or emotional state or you react as soon as something related to your belief has been spoken.
In that sense, mind cannot not have belief because otherwise we all will be thoughtless. Which is what the Buddhists aim for through meditation.

So although my mind does have beliefs I recognize that but as soon as I discover that I am trapped by a belief I distance myself from it for the moment than engage in it.

I think it doesn't matter. Whatever happens after death will happen. Afterlife or nonexistence. until then there's no way to know so instead of pondering it just live your life the way you see fit.

I believe in hope and God. I believe in helping others. I seek truth, I seek purpose. I believe the truth lies in nurturing one's soul.
