Atheists, if a hypnotist used their powers to make you believe in God, would you consider it a violation and be angry? [Spirituality & Religion]

Even if it meant you were more happy, less sullen, less neurotic and cynical and just generally more agreeable?

Why would it make me happier?
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@Bushranger because of Heaven
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Jm31xxx But we're out here having all kinds of fun that you're denying yourself because of your faith.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Jm31xxx But I have no proof that heaven exists, therefore, I'm enjoying my life now. So you hypothesis that having faith would make me happier is false as I'm already happy.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Does he really have to deny himself? I mean, having faith is enough to get you into heaven, so he'd be free to do whatever he wanted. Perhaps that's why a lot of prisoners I worked with found God when they were locked up.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Bushranger Sounds like the Wahhabis I grew up around. Devout Muslims but they drink and smoke and have sex with both men and women.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Yep, you can always save yourself with a last minute confession.

@BlueMetalChick I deny myself nothing
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Jm31xxx Can I ask, what religion do you follow? Because if you deny nothing to yourself then you're either part of a faith I have little knowledge about, or you're full of shit. Or more likely than both, you don't actually know your own religion.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Gotta love Family Guy.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Of course, there is the argument that it's not about religion, but a relationship with God. I suppose that way you don't have to worry about being a moral person, just profess a belief in God and be saved. Nice work, if you can get it lol.

@BlueMetalChick You sound like you are done with Islam?... or just the Wahhabis..?
Doesn't matter.. :)
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@walabby The Wahhabis specifically. Considering they destroyed my city, murdered three quarters of my family, and I'm missing a fucking eyeball cos of them.

Do you mean "God" was doing time too? ;)
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Sharon We had a few serious psychiatric disorders, but not sure if we ever had a God lol. But it was amazing how some of them seemed to think that it was enough to get them out on Parole.
walabby · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick OUch... That wasn't very nice of them :/ Are you from Saudi Arabia?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@walabby No, I'm from Yemen. Which makes even more sense.
walabby · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick OK... That's next door, isn't it..? Pardon my ignorance.
Hopefully life is better for you now..
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@walabby No, it's no worries. Saudi Arabia hates Yemen for religious tensions and is currently waging genocide there, which is why I said it makes sense. It's largely made possible by America, who is supplying Saudi Arabia with the bombs and missiles and whatnot they use to kill people in Yemen.
walabby · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick Politics is crazy... The US should keep their bib out of other people's hassles a lot more than they do.. :/
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@walabby Agreed. It makes sense in certain situations. Like I understood the supposed reason why America went into Afghanistan after 9/11. But most of the overseas interventions are bullshit.
walabby · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick True. I also think that Afghanistan was justified, but going into Iraq was crazy...
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@walabby The Iraq invasion was an absolute travesty. And what's even more disgraceful is that the US is STILL there, seventeen years later.
walabby · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick YEp. They should have listened to France, and taken note of Russia's experience, and all the other countries that went there for the last 2000 years...
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@Bushranger yeah that's how it works
