Who wrote the bible? [Spirituality & Religion]

Both testaments

Always the problem with committees... The end product is a Hodge podge... As someone said, a camel is a horse designed by a committee
@ozgirl512 That’s a clever saying. 😃
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard it's an old one so I can't claim credit... But so true lol
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@ozgirl512 You think something survived for 3000+ years in both beliefs and well preserved scripture while being hodge podge? lmao.

@Pfuzylogic ah the insult from a desperate man. I am sorry you believe this ridiculous book but try not to take it out on everyone.

You mean that book that has been interpreted a squillion times by a squillion different men? It was written for and by men only. It's nothing but a tool to control people, women primarily, just look at the terms "wo-man, wo-men, per-son, His-tory,Hu-man... because of that ridiculous rib thing, we then became derivatives of males, a weak copy according to them...what power they gave/give themselves...that book is anti-womyn, violent, contradictory, unbelievable if you are a rational thinking individual. Men wrote it

Several authors and a couple aliases. They had an editors meeting in 325 CE to decide what you can see.

@MasterLee
The first Council of Nicaea.
They didn't write it though.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Pfuzylogic as I said, they decided what you would see.
Pfuzylogic · M
@MasterLee There was also a criteria that excluded Gnostic "gospels".

Men as they were moved along by the Holy Spirit. It is wonderfully written. Those who don't believe find nonsense. Those who do believe find untold depth that goes on forever. It sometimes seems like the believer is peeling an onion with each layer revealing one layer more beyond the last.

A bunch of men who either pilfered previous religious texts or, in the case of the New Testament, which was reportedly first developed about 70 years after Jesus died, "ghostwriters" who never had a first hand encounter with Jesus.

Different authors, though some were ubiquitous... But ultimately, God is the author, the "inspirer" through His breath as it is written.
Depends on which book You're talking about.

The council of Nicaea: presided over by Constantine I
SW-User
@KelseyR Interesting. My understanding has been that Constantine didn't fully become a christian till later... though this was a bit after the Malvern Bridge event and the christianization of the empire.
KelseyR · 26-30, F
@SW-User He never became a Christian. He was baptized on his death bed; remaining a pagan.
SW-User
@KelseyR I think I read that as well. You are well informed. I guess we'll find out in the future.
