Meditation is wrong? [Spirituality & Religion]

Someone commented that meditation was among the things you should avoid. What religion teaches this? And WHY? I don't mean to offend anyone but that boggles my mind.

Meditation is a broad term, the sort that's focused on chakras opens you up so that things can get in, and in Yoga meditation the Kundilini serpent is Lucifer, and said serpent is said to ascend through the chakras to reach the mind at the top and provide "enlightenment".

Meditation in general isn't wrong, but there are many ways to do it. Some of those involve demonic entities.

@th3r0n That doesn't make any sense. To be spiritually awakened and enlightened is to be knowledgeable about the world that really exists around you. Correct me if I'm wrong, but "the serpent" told eve that she would see the world that exists around her, the one god didn't want her to see? And suddenly she was able to see herself naked, and was exposed to sin? I'm not sure how it's a good thing to be oblivious to everything that you're apart of. Even if you discover things you may not like, what is a blanketed life worth?

@IstillmissEP any who do not have the mark of the beast on hand nor forehead and still live have a chance of salvation, but time is running out.

That was me. I was raised a Christian. Meditation is an eastern idea inconsistent with western religions. There is no 'emptying the mind' and saying 'gumbum gumbum gumbum' when praying to God. That's what they were driving at, I suppose.

Research on chants by monks revealed it affected the brain much like meditation. Nothing is intrinsically bad since that is a human concept. People use many things and practices for aggressive, destructive, and rankist purposes.
To single this one or that one as the key tool is folly. Humans have the mental ability to be neutral, objective, and logical but almost always reject that for some "belief."

Siggghhh..humans!

there's nothing wrong with meditation. It is used to center yourself and give you peace of mind. Any that think there is more to it than that are grossly misinformed.

Meditation is wrong if it is used for violence to come
MikefromEP · 56-60, M
@gemimaia Am I though? Think about it. Would you just put a bomb on yourself and walk out into a public place without clearing your mind? I would never do such a thing.
gemimaia · 26-30, F
@MikefromEP My point is that you are linking two factors that don't belong together. You do not have to meditate to clear your mind.
Clearing your mind is not evil either.
Maybe you should do some more reading about meditation and less about bombing. You seem unsettled.

@gemimaia Meditation is used by all types of people. It can be described as peer pressure and a person forcing themself to do something. It can be described as yoga on a self journey to Zen. I am not blind to what meditation can do... I just hope a person takes a few deep breaths controlled and slowly released and comes to the point of.. Sleep on this thought :)

No it's not wrong. A lot of monotheist religions just want you to be repressed like them. It's like the same belief system that if you sneeze, it's your soul leaving the body. Goes back thousands of years but has zero scientific value.

Meditation is good for you. It gives you a chance to relax, clear your mind and it lowers your blood pressure. Praying is talking to God and Meditation is listening to God.
for many, anything that is not required by their own religion is evil. they would not like yoga or massage as well
