Do you alway seem to have a song playing in your head?

I read that it’s a form of stress/anxiety to always have music playing in your head. I can go to sleep then wake up and it’s still playing. Doesn’t Matter if I listen to the song over and over again trying to stop it it will still be stuck. The song will be playing in my head for a few days then I’ll hear a new one and that one will get stuck. Does this happen to anyone else?
I wake up to a song in my head every single day. somedays it lasts all day and into the next.
A few weeks ago it was the same silly song for almost 4 solid days.
But, I do have quieter days too, where its not so musical.

@nonsensiclesnail same with me as well. I’m relieved to hear that I’m not the only person who experiences this. Thank you for commenting. I hope you have quieter days soon.
@DisarrayedNightshade I don't mind actually. There are times of course, when I hate the song... or i've listened to it for 4 days straight... of course I need those to happen less.
I do wonder sometimes how my brain goes about choosing the music.
and is the music influencing me or is my own mood influencing the music choices.

For a time I kept track of the song I woke up to - to see. if there was any pattern, but I saw nothing even remotely interesting. If it is a sort of anxiety, that almost makes sense to me, but again makes me ask if its the music causing the anxiety, or a response, or is it out anxiety picking the music, and if so, why does it pick songs i've never heard before at times.

@nonsensiclesnail it’s hard to tell. The human brain is a mysterious place. Sometimes it drives me nuts just trying to figure it out. It also drives me nuts when I have a song stuck in my head for multiple days. Ugh 😑 where’s the on off button

I do wake up with music in my head. The interesting thing is when I’m awake I do not retain music. I will recognize it when it comes on the radio or spotify and can sing along, but in most cases it leaves my head almost immediately and I can’t replay it. The only exception to this is if I am emotional and I play something over and over again, even so, a few minutes away from it, and it is gone from my head, until I fall asleep at night and it will come back to replay over and over again where I wake up hearing it, not parts of it, but the whole song, then it is gone again from my head.

That's usually what's in my head. If I'm not actively thinking about something else, there's a song in the background.

@caPnAhab same!! Glad I’m not the only one
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
More than that, I have had moments throughout my life where I could have a song in my head one moment, then the next moment, I'd end up hearing the same song on the radio. All within the same day. It's as though I have ESP connected to the radio station.

@Sidewinder that’s wild!! Thank you for sharing your experience

Yes! I play the piano and tunes are constantly playing--sometimes so vividly and happily I have to go sit down and find the piece and play it for real!
DisarrayedNightshade · 36-40, F
@Docdon23 that’s cool!! doesn’t seem like it drives you nuts like how it drives me nuts getting songs stuck in my head constantly 🤪
Docdon23 · M
@DisarrayedNightshade It drives me nuts if i cannot find the music and figure out the tune in time...it haunts me...but when i find it YES! Music can be such magic!

A sign of anxiety and yes, it does happen. That's why we listen to motivational song when we are about to give our best shot at something.

I run 2 clubs. One for the college trade, the other for jazz people
I love music and thus my work

@Dshhh that’s cool thanks for sharing. I feel like the reason I always have music stuck in my head is because of stress/anxiety due to trauma. Thus why I am a broken sad girl

DisarrayedNightshade · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 I’ve wondered if I have OCD as well. Thanks for sharing

@DisarrayedNightshade what music plays in your head? not the same one all the time i Hope
DisarrayedNightshade · 36-40, F
@Dshhh usually the same song will be stuck for a few days then it’ll switch. The last couple days it’s been “zombie” by the cranberries before that it was “time moves slow” by bad bad not good.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Random (not very good) songs I made up that I never recorded usually
