Totally agree with the bad covers although Mad World works for me. I like the tempo. And I think both that and the Hendrix versions are more popular than the original. Hendrix especially. Think I'm still on board with the film version of Man of Constant Sorrow though Love that song. And it's old. I remember reading that the guy first recorded it, over a 100 years ago, lost his sight.. Always wondered if that influenced the decision for the record producer in the movie being blind.
I'd toss Twist and Shout in there too. The original was cool but the Beatles version is very different and really tight. Respect by Aretha is another fav. She really captured it.
Worst ever for me might be William Shatners' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. He was serious about it too. ouch. :)
@Ynotisay omf we dont talk bout the shatner disaster and pretend it didnt happen hahah

@TryingtoLava HA. What really gets me is that he was SO serious about it. He though he was making art. Unreal. I've actually spent some time with him and he's living in his own world. Strange man. Huge ego. Clearly. :)
@Ynotisay hes the capn of the starship not a musician
@TryingtoLava Leonard Nimoy put out an album around that same time ! He had a couple, but this one cracked me up…
@bijouxbroussard When I was little I wanted to be Spock :)
