Mostly help youth centers

Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
Absolutely! If my girlfriend needs a new shelf, put up, I volunteer. If she needs a ride to the airport, I volunteer. If she needs her dog medicated, I volunteer. 😂
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Zaphod42 you're a good boyfriend! Taking care of those we love should come first!!!!

Mindful · 56-60, F
@TryingtoLava yes that counts.
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
Occasional work in the kitchen for the Salvation Army. They helped me in my time of need once, so I give back.

I remove old golfballs from my golf course three or four times a week. It takes me 3-4 hours to pick them up. I’m all about the environment.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Thatsright wow! What discipline!
exexec · 70-79, C
At least once, sometimes twice a month I work at a distribution point for the county Food Bank.

NAMI is an organization that myself and other members of my family volunteer in various places within the organization.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@dragonfly46 oh, what type of volunteering do you do? What does it look like?
@Mindful I work in a chapter office. Help out at events in their booths.
GoFish ·
i have but not lately
Mindful · 56-60, F
@GoFish do you mind if I ask what type of volunteer work you did?
GoFish ·
@Mindful well i used to run errands for the neighbors and once my bro and i were volunteer tutors at a school
lissah · 36-40, F
I did for 3 years when it was court ordered. I worked at the food bank and then made back packs where we would pack food for needy kids to have on the weekends.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@lissah good work. our city has a food bank like that
lissah · 36-40, F
@Mindful yeah i didnt mind doing it. It was easy.
Not so much these days unless it's through work. I volunteered for a cancer charity for years during uni.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@0uijaFinger that must have been challenging
@Mindful Not really. I sorted donations and got cups of tea.
It’s been awhile now, but for several years I volunteered at a local homeless shelter, cleaning and helping with meals.
ninalanyon · 70-79, TVIP
I don't do any work at all!
Mindful · 56-60, F
@ninalanyon how do you make it thru the day?
ninalanyon · 70-79, TVIP
@Mindful You'd be amazed at how little time I seem to have to get things done what with finding time to read a book, go for a walk, visit an art gallery, stop at a cafe for tea and cake, take some pictures of the scenery, take some selfies, post my diary on SW (with pictures of course), watch a couple of YouTube videos affirming my prejudices, watch some Insta reels about the troubles other trans people have. By then it's time for bed to sleep and gather my resources to repeat the process on the morrow.

But to be more serious, most of my nominally retired friends do work, often volunteer work, as well as seriously time consuming hobbies. They all say that they don't know how they ever had the time to do an ordinary job for pay as well!
Mindful · 56-60, F
@ninalanyon thank you
I help a feminist organization.
I help local strays as much as I can. That's it.
@Mindful just help them with my professional skills.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@greensnacks attorney or other?
@Mindful Other. I don't wanna share what do I do 😊
Thinkingdeeper · 36-40, M
Until health intervened I volunteered in the heritage sector. Nature of the work unfortunately meant I had to give it up when health diagnosis came. It was a great time volunteering and do recommend it if you haven't tried it.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Thinkingdeeper heritage sector?
Thinkingdeeper · 36-40, M
@Mindful transport related. Unfortunately medical condition meant I couldn't continue in that role.
tenente · 36-40, M
