Formal resignation from NSW rural fire service after being a volunteer member for 24 years

It's untenable for me to continue following on from the covid vax mandates implemented by my brigade itself in late 2021 and agency wide via Service Standard 7.1.9 in mid 2022 that haven't been rescinded.

I've not been active since the return of covid lockdowns (2.0) in July 2021. I've held off formally resigning my volunteer membership because I had a lot of good friends from when living closer but since I moved and subsequently bought my house plus with my daughter's parenting needs as she grows up the time has come with the new year for cleaning up more messy loose ends.

RFS resignation is one of those.

I became a RFS volunteer firefighter in November 2001. Now in 2026 the culture is so different that it's no longer for me.

How old is your daughter ?

Do you live in NSW or SA

@CreyvinMoorhead daughter 8. in nsw. Never been a member of the SA CFS even though I did live there for a time for work and did visit a CFS brigade to inquire.

@zonavar68 OK, she is stil to young for this.

Please don't be quick to judge, read it all.

It's her future & she will love you for showing her the best years of her life

Why are you afraid of the vaccine?

@Tastyfrzz The way covid 'vaxes' (ie experimental drugs for a 'global trial') were pushed immediately turned me off, so I did plenty of reading on both sides of the arguments for and against them, and decided the medical risk was too great.

I was one of two people in my RFS brigade who opted to not get jabbed, and therefore we got excluded from all brigade activities post November 2021. Covid was a fully-man mad plandemic which I chose to not participate in.

The two orgs supposedly representing volunteers - RFSA and VFFA - both openly endorsed full support for the covid vax mandates and did *nothing* to push back against them.

Nearly 1/3 of volunteers left the RFS from 2021 to this year mostly because of the vax mandate but just the general change in culture away from where volunteers are valued for their individual selfless contribution to now being treated like unpaid employees.
