Yep was school governor for many years. Many seemed to forget we were there to help the school not hinder it.

I've been involved in charity stuff too. That can suddenly implode over something and become factions against each other. I've always tried to rise above that and try to see across the divides. But not easy.

I did once at work.

I did not like it because I am an introvert and was supposed to represent an office. So whenever I was asked to find out what my office thought, I was terrified since I do not know how to seek out information from a group of people.

I left a few years later, yet for other reasons.

While recovering from those other reasons, I found EP.

Yes, several times. My experiences were mostly good. A good chairperson helps keep things amicable.

I served as Secretary on the board of my Singles Support Group. I think what I hated most about it was the enforced smorgasbord we all had to provide.

Never volunteer to go on a board. Volunteer to run the show yourself, but don't volunteer to share that responsibility with even one other person because there are too many egos involved which desperately need appeasing.

It's bad enough dealing with our own ego on most days without having to accommodate the ego of several others you have to get along with in the process.
