My volunteering experience in Thialand

I went to thialand for 3 weeks. I got to teach english in an school that were for children from more disadvantaged backgrounds. They were very well behaved and never made anyone feel bad for making mistakes. I got to look after elephants , feed
and prepare their food and get in the water with them to bathe them. I got to go snorkling , swimming in the ocean , swimming in waterfalls and swimming with dolphins. I used to fear swimming and hate swimming but this trip helped me gain my confidence back and now im taking swimming lessons again after having anixtey from childhood swimming lessons. I now love swimming. I got to visit 7 different temples and went to an lantan festival. I even had an thia boxing lesson. I became very close friends with my roomate , whilst everyone else went partying , we went out feeding the street dogs and cats , we went to night markets and shopping malls. Every morning before breakfast , we would go to small coffee shops to get our morning iced coffee. We would sit up until late just laughing and talking about drama. We had good and not so good times. From helping me out of the gas station bathroom when I had an emergency 😳 to her climbing out of the window and ripping her pants in front of everyone sat by the pool , we always found an way to laugh about it. Even when we got some of our brand new blouses that we brought from the mall stolen to her making fun of my backpack whilst I were drinking water then completely soaking our hotel room. I loved our spontanous adventures , such as when we got strandered at the mall and had to walk back in the dark to when I were driving the quad bike and went too fast nearly knocking it over with our rep holding on at the back , to walking along an bridge whilst an train were coming through , to having photoshoots on the beach , we always found an way to make it fun. I always struggled to make friends with new people but we connected the moment we met at the airport. We both had the same intrests and an dream to travel the world and do many jobs abroad. We hardly slept during most of the trip because we were constantly going out having fun and laughing all night in the hotel. I got to visit bangkok , chaingmai , ayuttaya , koh chang and 4 different islands were we went swimming and snorkling. This trip were one of the best trips Ive had yet , I will miss my friend. There is too much to write about , I had to pick out the best parts , some not so good parts that I managed to still laugh over. My favourite food were mango sticky rice , my friend had an fresh coconut drink every day. I will miss the food too , I never ate so healthily in my life. Thank you for some of the best 3 weeks of my life.

Why is it when people go to other countries they always show it's good side?

Not putting down Thailand. This applies to every country. Most especially to the USA.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SW-User I just wish it was more balanced. Not just you. It's EVERYONE that's doing it. 😞
SW-User
@DeWayfarer I didnt want to put anyone off from visting , countries like thialand really need volunteers to help out
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SW-User I think everyone knows there are many good things in most countries.

Even countries like Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia and so forth.

It's definitely not the whole story unfortunately.

It sounds wonderful.
I have a friend who visited Thailand while travelling and later went back to live and work, teaching English. He loves it there

I know someone who taught there for 7 years and she loved it. My sister visited her many times and often remarks how beautiful it is there. Great photos.
