I Love Volunteering

I thought this, and guess I still will in the long term. But this week I found it demoralising. Maybe it's time to be selfish for a while.

My dad once told me regarding work\career\anything. "Never think you're irreplaceable or indispensable...no matter what people make you think or what they say to get you to stay. When YOU think it's time to move on...then move on. Don't worry about who or what you are leaving behind...It's their job to adapt and take care of themselves"

@metaldog That's exactly what I'm doing.
@electropura well good luck and don't get discouraged

@metaldog Thanks a lot, I'll do my best not to be.

Then you don't love it.

Volunteering is for a certain type of masochist.

Got one here of 27 yrs. Why do I keep on.? Sometimes it.... well, inspires more victims who also want to......

Volunteer!

@sighmeupforthat I actually do love it, but this week set me back and it might take a while to be passionate about it again.

@electropura no, never leave us...... never!

Uh, don't wayward too long, you'll come to your senses.

We need you.

Sounds like I'm being cynical... overall, no, let's just say it IS still more rewarding than working with fast food and restaurants.

Or public transportation.

@sighmeupforthat "no, never leave us... never!" I heard that this week! when they were trying to reassure I'm valued and indispensable. But clearly not enough to get a paid job with them...
