Do you remember your first trip to a large city where you found out that smiling politely at strangers is completely unacceptable?

I happen to live in one of the most highly-populated cities in my country, but people are very mellow here. In fact, my city (Mesa, Arizona) is also one of the safest cities in the country. I like to think it's because it's always so fucking hot, we don't got the energy to be uptight with each other here, lol.
