Fool was in the wrong so tried to use a word he thought I would not know.
At the time my understanding of the word was - argumentative.
The real meaning is Petulant or Whiny.
So we were both wrong. 🙂
He used the word in the wrong context.
He was saying why did I think I was always right.

A long time ago someone said I was the dope... I wasn't sure whether I should be insulted or if it was a compliment turned out it was a compliment.

@Justmeraeagain I recall 'dope' being used as slang for information. May have been specific to RAF talk in the 40s. Another similar expression was "gen" - short for general intelligece.

When I was a kid I didn't know what "stubborn" meant, I just thought it meant bad character.
