What's the difference between a fetishist and a deviant ?

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If you use a French tickler, that’s a Fetish but if you use a French hen, that’s Deviant
akindheart · 61-69, F

...and pervert.
Yeah, I'd like to know too.
We actually had a definition of a deviant in some classes in high school that surprised me. The definition was that the deviant is an individual whose thoughts and behaviour deviates from the norm and must engage in activities that harm other people or their possessions. Until then I thought a deviant was any individual whose thoughts and worldviews deviate from the norm but doesn't necessarily need to act on anything.

Fetishist is someone who is sexually aroused by objects or activities that are not common to trigger sexual arousal in people. Fetishist doesn't need to act on anything, it's purely about how does his or her body react to the said object or activity.

@CrazyMusicLover Interesting though still slightly confusing :)

@Nimbus Yeah, the definition didn't say anything about the act that harms other people being sexual in nature but I think the term is usually used in sexual context.

IMO only, deviants are somewhat twisted, and in the past have been considered sick in some way, and fetishists are deviants who are fixated on objects or particular behaviors or on body parts.

@4meAndyou I see, interesting :)

None - both have a sick fetish of following Liverpool
Nimbus · M
@nedkelly Sickening indeed.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Hmmm???

A fetish is simply the unique interest that stirs an individual's sexual feelings.

A deviant is someone who actively tries to satisfy those feelings via devious conduct.
Nimbus · M
@Heartlander Oh!
That make sense.
one uses a feather. the other uses a entire greased chicken?.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you added a detail there…”greased”…you really know your stuff. 😖
