This is a die hard truth.
Years ago, I was in a relationship with a guy who had a 7 yr old daughter. He had raised her by himself since she was 8 wks old, but she still visited her mother (who lived in Washington state) regularly. When she was 10, she asked her father if she could permanently live with her mom. He agreed, since she was on the verge of becoming a young woman and would benefit from having her mother's guidance.
When we flew the daughter up to Washington, I got to meet her mother and the mother's new husband. IMMEDIATELY I got bad vibes from the stepdad. He was erratic, seemed unstable, and I could literally feel that he was hiding his real self. I even asked my bf after we left, "So... that Sean guy... are you comfortable leaving your child with him?" He waved it off and just said "Oh, he's harmless, that's just how he is."
Yeah. Well.
Four years later, that stepdad murdered bf's daughter, then shot himself. I wish my bf had taken my feelings seriously.
