When I first came to this site, I assumed that public gifts would be the ones that might make the receiver self conscious. But I have learned that most people don't feel that way.

I still send a gift privately if I know the person well and my comments make reference to things that they might not want to be public.

@DrWatson Yes, that makes sense. For example, if you refer to a stressful event that the person getting the gift has gone through, they may not want everyone to know about it.

@MoonlightLullaby I'm angrier with a guy saying I'm fake. I think he pressures girls into supplying more pictures to prove they're real and then pressures them again to send nude pictures. That kind of guy. Or maybe he's a virgin and misogynist.

@chrisCA Private gifts are icky. The one I opened by mistake had the insulting message "You're pretty if that's really you". The rest I removed without opening.
