If humans had ever displayed any kind of ability to act in the best interests of anything on the whole while not simultaneously working to destroy it, I would think this was a wonderful tool. As it stands, it just makes me sad.

I worked on an early AI project back in the '80's, which was nothing compared to today's computing power. Still, AI is dependent on the data that is used to make decisions. Garbage in-garbage out still applies, but it is much more dangerous today since people seen to accept what is produced by AI whiteout questioning it.

Pretty helpful. I used it to proofread my work. I don't think it's as smart as people think it to be. It misses a lot so it needs a lot of specific human prompts

All hail our new overlords

@Doomflower Managing humanity is much better now. Especially considering the testing capabilities.

It seems like within the past couple or three weeks there's been a lot more talk about AI than before. Why is that? Is it a distraction or did they recently come up with some big huge development or why?

Lots of potential. Bing AI art generator or whatever sucks ass though, wanted realistic images of various animals and it produced nonsense

Unless well regulated with strict guidelines, AI is potentially extremely dangerous.
It has already been misused in creating fake audio and video.

That it's been around for a while but like most things is now being treated like it's brand new and came out of nowhere.

I like it. I just hope it doesn't replace jobs so fast. Oh and misinformation is going to be even more rampant
It's not the worst idea ever. It's the second worst.
Only time will tell, currently it's not intelligent enough.

It's a wet dream for phonies, hacks, and posers to pretend they "created" art, "wrote" a story or article, or scripted a computer code.
It's all just overhype and it isn't even intelligent. He first chatbot ELIZA was created back in the 1960s. It passed the Turig test and even these new AI systems are using the exact same methods With different tech, but same method and tactical function, as that first chatbot.
It's also great for ruining every google seacrg from now till the end of time with pages of useless AI generated clickbait articles and optimized adverts.
