Evolutionary biology: competition makes sense for the individual; cooperation is better for the group/species/whole.

David Sloan an evolutionary biologist has determined that competition only makes sense when the unit of evolution is considered the individual. When the focus shifts to the level of a group or species COOPERATION is the better model; not only for surviving but for thriving.
there is SYMBIOSIS in every level of living things not only to compete in a ZERO-SUM game, but to MUTUALLY INTERACT with the creatures and systems upon which your survival depends
