why do people think its rude to walk around with your hands in your pockets?

I think one of the reasons is it looks slovenly, lackluster bosses never want to see it. On the other hand, I can't see anything with one hand in your pocket while walking around town etc. But if you walk around with one in each pocket; be prepared for the joke ''are you playing pocket billiards''.

As a NYer I was brought up being told only the Chinese walk w their hands in their pockets . Dead serious
(In an urban area it’s a look that invites victimization )
