Adirondack park development plans. . . Some thoughts. Mostly bad idea.

Current plan is to sell the whitney estate in Saratoga county in upstate NY to a high end luxury developer.
The sale of that estate is overdue; nd not a bad idea, but some thoughts.
1) the proposal is to build an expansive and expensive golf course(s) hotels and private luxury condominiums\housing developments.
There are already golf courses in Saratoga county, perhaps revamping those would be better. More is not necessarily better.
The subrural feel of the area is part of the unique charm of that region.
2) there is need for affordable single family homes and community debelopment. Golf courses are not for the average citizen. Million dollar houses and wasteful land management is contrary to the fundemental spirit of the Adirondacks. It was intended for use by all the citizens of New York State; not only the wealthy.
And 3) the average person doesnt golf. Nor should the "Billioaire country club lifestyle" be forced on every resident and visitor to the area.
The necessary and legally required environmental reviews and regulatury adherence panels have yet to be conducted. Public comment is pending, and required by law.
Too much too fast.
Maybe they (the developers) are just trying to play the market?
Nature must be perserved. Plus we need more crop land not more old man hangout\activity spots.
One-track mind Republicans and a generation of golfers? Did you know its the 21 century now? Not the 1950s!

Hey! This is America.. Are you some kind of socialist or something?😷

@whowasthatmaskedman preserving nature is not socialism you prefer arosticratic control? Oligarchs that dont think of citizens only profit and development? That is borderline communism. And we need nature for life (oxygen).

@jehova I agree with you on principle. However, if no one is making a profit along the way and this is being done for the general good of the environment or the community, it is Socialism. Just like health care, and education..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman but social provisions also support capitalism. K12 schools and universal healthcare keep people able to work and saves employers money which allows the employment of more employees; supporting capitalism productivity and profit. Wheres the line?

@jehova Thats the thing. There can be no line in reality. Subsidizing farmers of tax breaks are business are also Socialism. Strictly speaking.. But people draw the line wherever they want it. The term is now meaningless.. It means "Something I dont like."😷

@whowasthatmaskedman too true and its become so politically charged only a talking point.
