No, but I think people who own empty houses should be compelled to take tenants.

@SunshineGirl In a socialist country maybe, but not in a free country.

@TexChik When one section of the populatiom is needlessly homeless or spending more than a third of their income on rent, while another section owns housing that they neither need nor are able to use productively, this puts a considerable qualification on the definition of "free".
TexChik · F
@SunshineGirl so people can't invest in real estate because you feel badly for those who can't or wont take care of their own needs and want to force someone else to deal with it?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@TexChik Housing is a scarce resource in most advanced economies. Hardworking people are driven to poverty or homelessnesd by others hoarding this resource and restricting supply. If people do not or cannot use their property productively for the purpose for which it was built (ie. shelter), it is reasonable for government to intervene.

@SunshineGirl Hardworking people are driven to poverty by corrupt governments. Stealing property from citizens will drive them away taking their money, companies, and jobs with them.
Socialism works until they use up all the money

@TexChik Are you familiar with the Parable of the Talents? (Matthew 25:14-30). It's all about the importance of using one's resources and abilities responsibly and productively.

@SunshineGirl when its your pocketbook you are being holy with, I will take you seriously.
