What will unite humanity?

Will it take massive natural disasters and tragedies for us to finally put aside our differences in caste, religion, race, and geography and unite in a needto survive? Or will we be sufficiently inspired by love, empathy, and compassion to do so?

What will it take to unite us?or will we ever?

We will only be united in our extinction, which will be to the benefit of all other species (which comprise the actual majority of life on Earth)
@BlueGreenGrey Profound.
@bijouxbroussard I don't know what we're missing, maybe some crucial DNA sequence, but we've had hundreds of thousands of years to evolve, and we haven't, and that past seems like a good predictor of the future

All we've advanced as a species is our technology, not our behavior or our values

Even existential threats to our species do not unite us, in sharp contrast to Hollywood imaginings like Independence Day (which seems to be echoed throughout this thread, ironically) ... the pandemic, climate change, the nuclear era, the failure to regulate AI all point at the reality
